I was a little skeptical about where things were going to pan out with the second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events, but was pleasantly surprised to find it is being directed in a fantastic direction. Being that the Vile Village was the last book in the series that followed the established structure of, "Mr. Po brings the siblings to new adoptive family, Olaf shows up, things get torn apart and ruined, kids get taken away for the next story," we finally get to the part in the series when things really start to expand creatively. So much so that the second part of the Hostile Hospital really blew me away. There was a lot less heavy narration, and a lot more focus on characters interacting and interpreting the situations they found themselves in. Fantastic job! I can't wait for season 3!

SEASON 2
As was this case with season one the series continues to follow the books relatively closely with each being split across two episodes. Despite it’s repetitive formula I did generally enjoy the first season of Lemony Snicket thanks to its great cast and sense of humour. Second time around however it isn’t so easy to overlook just how similar each pair of episodes is and when Olaf turns up in disguise trying to capture the Baudelaire orphans for what felt like the 100th time my interest seriously waned...

Despite staying mostly true to its source material, the overarching plot feels poorly developed, and the episodes are starting to feel repetitive and stale.
