Like any competent Bruckheimer, "Miami Medical" speaks TV very well. It spins the A, B and C story lines like plates in a circus act. It has reduced the medical jargon to the requisite bewildering-cum-authentic prattle.
  2. Predictable characters haven’t hurt the “CSI” crime shows, but this is Mr. Bruckheimer’s first hospital drama, and viewers accustomed to layered dramas like “ER” and “House” expect more.

This Miami trauma-hospital drama is marginally better than "Three Rivers."
  4. It's got the action and the one-liners. It just doesn't leave you caring all that much whether you see it again.

Those of you who miss "Six Feet Under's" opening minutes each week--when you had to guess who would be spectacularly killed, and how--will enjoy the violent and graphic start of "Miami Medical" each week, too. But that's about all it's good for.

"Miami Medical" is every bit as pained as "Three Rivers," the organ-donor series that CBS tried to launch in the fall.
  7. Regardless, it doesn't take long to realize that "Miami Medical," written by executive producer Jeffrey Lieber, is long on emotional manipulation and short on compelling characters and insightful storytelling.
