In this season, there is further development of characters who were slighted with little back story before and there certainly are more (and better) action sequences. Also, Naruto himself becomes less of an irritation and begins to be more likable. As far as the plot goes, it gets much darker. The main antagonist (Orochimaru) finally rears his head and sets up a series of events that define the characters throughout the rest of the series. This season is more approachable for non-fans of the series, but it still suffers from some Shonen cliches, like blatant characterization and delayed plot development among other things. Expand
