  • Summary: Throughout Sam's life, he always wondered why his mom and dad were so easy on him. Whether it was sports, school, career choices, or picking on his little brother Kyle, Sam always got away with everything. Because of it, he decided to drop out of college and take a dead beat job, wasting most of his time playing video games and wishing he could ask his co-worker Andi out. However, everything changes in Sam's life once he turns 21 and finds out the reason his parents let him get over was because they sold his soul to the devil before he was born.Satan explains to Sam that he must serve as his bounty hunter, tracking down souls that have escaped from Hell. Initially, Sam refuses to accept his fate but he realizes the grave consequences of breaking a deal with the devil. He is armed with various vessels to collect the escapees. Sam finds that the work is dangerous and frightening even with the goof ball help of his friends and fellow slackers Sock and Ben, and Sock's former girlfriend, Josie. As bizarre as his life becomes, Sam feels good about his newfound "missions", removing evil souls from the world and sending them back to where they belong. Along with his friends and his vessel of the week, Sam prepares to face his destiny as the "reaper".The series is produced by ABC Television Studio in association with The Mark Gordon Company. Expand

This doesn't pretend to be a deep show, but it's a pleasant diversion with a good cast, and really good (read: expensive) production values.
  2. After a nine-month hiatus, one of the best new shows of last season returns from the undead with a bit more of the deviled edge that made it so great when it first emerged from the crypt in the fall of 2007.
  3. Creatively, the show seems to be in pretty decent shape.

It’s hard to invest much in Sam when his behavior is contradictory or gullible and when he seems downtrodden much of the time.

Back for its second season, Reaper has one thing left going for it: Ray Wise as the dapper Devil.
  6. Reaper takes several steps back--and a few steps sideways--suggesting a drunken all-nighter may be in order, if it hasn't happened already.

Set against Reaper‘s slackers and the largely limited actors who portray them, Wise will having you rooting for the Devil.

Watching the last couple shows of the season, I can definitely say: PopMatters sucks.

Reaper is a great show. The new season seems to revitalize it with a whole new plot twist.

Reaper is one of the few shows I'll actually tune in to watch. I love how little TV critics actually know vs. how much they think they know. I guess anyone who spends that much time watching television gets an atrophied brain after a while. Expand

Reaper is at the top of its game this season. The storylines are brilliant and Ray Wise as the Devil is astounding! I am hoping to see him earn an emmy nomination for his work on this show. Reaper is without a doubt the best show currently on the CW. Expand

One of the few shows at the moment that I am an avid viewer off. Just a good fun thing to watch, with a great cast.

As much as I love to watch Reaper, I have to admit that it's plot isn't so amazing, and there are a lot of flaws. But don't think that means it's bad to watch. Expand
