In the end, even if you've seen if before, Ring of Fire is a better than average Lifetime movie that will leave viewers hand-clapping, singing along and maybe sniffling a little.

The main problem here is that Carter was Cash's emotional rock, which is a great thing to have in your life but a bland thing to have as the peg for a film. [31 May/7 Jun 2013, p.127]

The structure of the movie compels the two to operate without much in the way of backup singers, and the story casts June as such a noble, one-dimensional spirit, it doesn’t so much end as simply run out the clock. That said, some will no doubt be satisfied just to soak in the atmosphere and the music.

Except for the chance to hear a few country classics, the movie doesn’t offer much else.

Jewel’s renditions of the country classics is brilliant--and almost makes the movie worth watching. But that’s only if you record this endeavor and skip through the story.
