This is the best young adult cast for any drama in years, and you’ll even be able to overlook Apa’s horrible dye job.
Riverdale, an enjoyable and moody teen series for adults who love teen series, a group of which I consider myself a member, is a fascinating splash in the ongoing remake deluge.

One of the best things I have ever watched. The writing, screenplays, and storylines are spectacular. The characters are well developed and awesome. The cast gives stupendous performances especially Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, KJ Apa, Madelaine Petsch, Camila Mendes, Luke Perry, Mädchen Amick, Ashleigh Murray, Marisol Nichols, Skeet Ulrich, Casey Cott, Martin Cummins, Lochlyn Munro, and Robin Givens. The scenery and sets are beautiful. Also the soundtrack and score are fantastic. This my favorite new show of the year and is now one of my favorite shows of all time. A+.

Riverdale spins the basics of the subgenre into pop-art cotton candy--with all the stickiness, instant gratification, and substance that implies.
There’s a lot of appreciate about these early episodes of Riverdale, if not outright adore. There’s also tremendous space for improvement, which is true of most series tasked with servicing a large ensemble of characters.
Riverdale can be overwrought at times and even too transparently politically correct at others. But it’s also crisply entertaining and particularly well-cast with respect to the pivotal roles of Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes).
It’s fun at times to make the comparisons with the original comic, to see just how far Riverdale strays. But that compare-and-contrast can take you only so far in the face of such derivative writing.
The joys and subversions of artistry have fallen away, and brand management--combining the appearance of sex and self-awareness, but none of the real thing--is a poor substitute. But if, like Riverdale, you hit all the notes, it can be hard to tell the difference.
"Riverdale" is an amazing show - you just have to know what are you dealing with to appreciate it. For some viewers it falls into "guilty pleasure" category. For me - it's all pleasure and I don't feel any guilt at all - I want mooooore! I'm not a teenager and I still love it. What's so appealing about the show? It's got great cinematography, awesome original soundtrack, fast and interesting plot and characters I want to consume. It really feels like a comic book transfered onto the screen. It has it's own vibe of an alternate reality where everything is possible and you shouldn't question it's logic. It's also locked in it's own stylistic bubble - it's modern but retro at the same time. The creators of "Riverdale" take the characters and every week throw them into new strange situations. Kids on the show often act like adults, and adults act like kids (isn't that the case in real life? ;D) There are some main plots but every episode seems like a new adventure. Of course the show is silly and campy and defies logic and reason, but it's also very entertaining, funny, tense, beautiful, smart and full of emotions. "Riverdale" is dark and subversive, the characters take everything very seriously, but the show itself continuously winks at it's viewers e.g. it uses "ships" made up by the fans and it's full of references to the pop culture. The cast is amazing (both parents and kids). The acting is solid. It's simply a cool show. It isn't a serious awards contender, it doesn't try to be a serious drama (although it has some truly moving moments worth real appreciation and it touches some serious subjects).

could have been a great show but again netflix/hollywood doesn't stay true to the original and peppers it with the post-modern themes of miscegenation, ****, and numinous negroes. It's getting really tiresome. America is choking on this stuff. It's everywhere now and everybody is beginning to figure out that it's all a lie. Doesn't lead to anything good. The actors and production values make it great. The cultural marxism makes it disappointing and creepy to watch.

This show is awful. It is more like a more gender balanced Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl than Archie. I hope nothing good happens to whoever came up with this crime against humanity.
