"Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
Saturday Night Live is a sketch comedy show that has run since the fall of 1975. Many now-famous actors and actresses such as Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Paul Shaffer, Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Martin Short, Damon Wayans, Joan Cusack, Robert Downey Jr., Dennis Miller, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, Conan O'Brien, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, David Spade, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Norm MacDonald, Molly Shannon, Will Ferrell, and Tina Fey got their start from Saturday Night Live. SNL is still unique amongst other sketch shows because of the fact that it has always been live.

Sep 12, 2011In each episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, there's only one time I do NOT laugh: the musical guest segment. It's simply a hilarious show--funnier than anything else on TV, and the best thing about it is you get a whole 90 minutes of humor.
Believe it or not, many notable films, such as WAYNE'S WORLD and MACGRUBER were spun off of recurring SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE skits. Also, various musical comedy groups, such as The Blues Brothers and The Lonely Island, began their careers on SNL, as well.
As bizarre as it may be, on the list of things I really want to do before I die, visiting the 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City (the place where this show is regularly filmed) is around number ten. It is impossible to not love SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and even though the 37th season will begin on September 24, 2011 (meaning the show has been on television for a long, long time), it remains hysterical. I saw a "Church Lady" skit in February (still portrayed by Dana Carvey, who was the host at that episode), and that skit was first shown in 1986, so some of the older stuff is still shown; as well as many of the somewhat newer sketches such as Kenan Thompson's recurring "What Up with That", Will Ferrell's "Celebrity Jeopardy!", Vanessa Bayer's "The Miley Cyrus Show", commerical spoofs, and, of course, "Weekend Update".… Expand
Jan 26, 2011Saturday Night Live is mostly great all of the time. As of right now it has some pretty great performers in the cast. Abby Elliott has such a great comedic style and spot on impressions. Nasim Pedrad has the whole show basically figured out all ready. She knows what to do and when to do it. And everyone else is pretty good too, but these two are the best by far.… Expand
Feb 23, 2011I guess I will never really be impressed like I was with the first few seasons. Ever since the second wave I have not had a strong interest in watching until this season. It has its moments and for me is saved by Seth Meyers. He has great delivery and I like his interviews, especially Stefon.… Collapse
Jul 8, 2011It is still pretty good, but not nearly as good as it once was(about 4-10 years ago). It usually depends on the host. For example, the episode with Tine Fey was amazing, and the episode with Dana Carvey wasn't (No, he is not funny). Most of the cast is pretty good, except Kenan Thompson. He is the farthest thing from funny that I have ever heard of. They always have him in drag, and he is never funny. Anyway, if you are a fan of this kind of thing, you will love it. SNL fans will also love this season.… Expand
