Looking Ahead To Midseason

On ABC, in addition to the titles listed above, look for additional new drama Eli Stone (the producers of Brothers & Sisters return with a hallucinating San Francisco lawyer), new reality program Oprah's Big Give (with the talk show host giving away a tiny fraction of her fortune to needy people), and new comedy Miss/Guided (Judy Greer is a rookie high school guidance counselor). Additional returning shows expected by early 2008 include Lost, Primetime, and Supernanny. There is also a small chance that comedy According To Jim will return.

On CBS, early 2008 will bring the returns of reality show The Amazing Race and sitcom The New Adventures Of Old Christine, joined by a limited seven-episode run of returning drama Jericho. In addition, new comedy The Captain (about a writer living in Hollywood) and new drama Swingtown (about swingers in suburban Chicago during the 1970s) will arrive at some point during the season.

On the CW, a re-tooled One Tree Hill (which will be set four years into the future) and a second installment of Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search For The Next Doll will return at midseason, joined by new programs Farmer Wants A Wife (a countrified reality dating show that is exactly what the title suggests) and Crowned: The Mother Of All Pageants (a beauty pageant competition featuring mother-daughter teams).

On Fox, in addition to the numerous midseason schedule changes, look for a new comedy The Rules For Starting Over (a look at four 30-something Bostonian friends from the Farrelly Brothers) and drama New Amsterdam (director Lasse Hallstrom's first foray into TV centers on an immortal NYPD detective) are set to appear at some point during the season.

On NBC, shows that will be arriving as replacements for failed series include comedy The IT Crowd (based on the British workplace series about a corporate Information Technology department) and reality competition World Moves (which pits dance teams against one another). On the hot seat is The Apprentice, which may or may not return for a seventh season.
