Summary

Starring Bob Saget (host)

Having achieved shocking success with its European game show import "Deal or No Deal," NBC tries its luck again with another program from the same creator, this one actually requiring contestants to possess a slight amount of knowledge.

New York PostLinda Stasi

Yes, "1 vs 100" is fun, but in reality, it's just a new take on an old, old game.

I found 1 vs. 100 much more enjoyable [than Deal Or No Deal]. [23 Oct 2006, p.37]

TV GuideMatt Roush

If NBC must use game shows as spackle to fill holes in its schedule, it could do worse. It already has.

Philadelphia InquirerJonathan Storm

There's no shame in enjoying the entertainment provided by these game shows, which are a step above some of their TV competition, but if knowing all the answers in 1 vs 100 makes you feel smart, then you must be pretty stupid.

It’s by no means must-see TV, but this is one game show you don’t have to be ashamed of getting sucked in to.

This is not a terrible game.

The New York TimesAlessandra Stanley

Prime-time game shows like “1 vs 100,” which begins tonight on NBC, are not a test of a contestant’s erudition or nerve; they are aspirational reality shows that allow ordinary Joes to go for it all in the hope of transforming their lives.

Chicago Sun-TimesDoug Elfman

"1 vs. 100" isn't really bad. Its only serious trouble is the pacing. In an hourlong episode, I count just 14 questions.

VarietyBrian Lowry

[It] basically plays like "Deal," inasmuch as the questions are so simple that amassing thousands isn't much harder than guessing which case to open.

There is a lot that is ridiculous here.

The only problem with 1 vs. 100 is its determined idiocy.

Henry Y gave it a7:
I love the show... except for Bob Saget. For a guy who can't make funny home videos seem funny, this guy can't make a show very exciting. Bring in Bob Barker or someone who has TRUE enthusiasm- not Saget's yelling "YOU COULD WIN A MILLION DOLLARS!" There's yelling an exciting fact and then there's genuine enthusiasm.

luke g gave it a10:
The game identity is a fabulous game and show.It allows people to be entertained and surprised.

Kyle F gave it a2:
Questions so easy even a monkey could answer them don't deserve a reward. Nor does this show deserve to stay on the air.

samantha z gave it a10:
love it so simple im young and im smarter than them

Taylor S gave it a0:
The first time I watched it, 26 people in the mob did not know that 10 nickels equals 50 cents. The question are so easy that my dog could become a millionaire. How about a little challenge for the contestants, please?

Nate D gave it a10:
its a good show

Kelly W gave it a5:
I watched the episode tonight (12.1.06) and the guy is up to 100,000. This is the first one I've seen and I'm wishing I was there. The questions so far I've gotten all right and I'm wondering why they are so easy. Not anything like Jeopardy... the questions on there are pretty difficult.
