After one hour, we not only care about the patients - but care quite a bit about the doctors.

[3 Lbs.], as medical shows go, is pretty, full of the kind of light-show graphics the "CSIs" and "House" have led us to expect.

The question is not whether "3 Lbs" is familiar and predictable, but whether "3 Lbs" is entertaining. It is, and mostly because it is so familiar and predictable.

Although competently produced, the series about doctors who specialize in brain maladies lacks a dramatic spark. Characters aren't fully formed; stories aren't arresting. Sometimes it even seems like the show was created from the transplanted organs of other series.

Make no mistake, "3 Lbs." is a show that will better appeal to the CBS audience than "Smith" did, but it's a pretty generic show.

Like on House, we go inside the body, zooming from nerve endings to the mind's exotic landscape, where surreal images convey mystery maladies. If only 3 LBS were as provocative.

There's nothing remotely fresh or original about "3 Lbs." But it is well made, reasonably diverting and lucky to be on CBS.

While it's quite watchable if you don't expect much from it, and while even though the cast is good company... the show is not vivid or daring enough to overcome one's sense of having seen it all before.

What’s depressing about “3 lbs” is that there’s no passionate spark behind it; it’s a doctor drama made by committee.

The most important lesson from tonight's premiere is that there isn't a single plot point this yawn-a-minute show won't feel the need to hammer home.

As hard as Tucci tries -- and he tries very hard -- he can't make Dr. Doug Hanson into Dr. Gregory House. It's not his fault; the writers simply don't give him the dialogue and depth that Hugh Laurie gets to play with on "House.''

Stuffed with incomprehensible medical jargon and grisly shots of exposed brains, 3 Lbs. would be a major annoyance even if it had an original thought in its seriously underweight head.

Hanson might be enough to fill a few paragraphs in an old Reader's Digest "Most Unforgettable Character" featurette, but the thought of spending an hour with him every week is about as attractive as having (place name of your least favorite medical procedure here) with the same frequency.

E. Spears gave it a9:
I found the show very interesting. I liked the compelling way that no doctor was better than the other. The difference was how and for what reason they though there treatment was better. Also for what reason a person would choose one action over another. It reminds me a little bit of both House and Chicago Hope. I found the show very enjoyable and entertaining being a former Chicago Hope fan.

Lisa L gave it a10:
This was a wonderful show. It held its own and not a rip-off of others. I love Tucci! This is the first time I've really seen Feuerstein, but I enjoyed his character in this show. Indira, I loved from ROME and she did excellent as a more ethereal type doctor. I really don't like that it is being compared to HOUSE or CSI. I love both of those shows. The characterization and stories are different. Yes, maybe there are a few techniques used that are similar in both (viewing the internal body), but that shouldn't condemn the show. It uses a viable technology to enhance a story line. Are we calling anyone that uses Lucases technology after the original Star Wars a rip off? Or how about the new filming techniques used in the Matrix? Innovation needs to start somewhere and then progress in other outlets. Bring back this wonderful show. Don't dumb down the shows on TV. Keep these intellectual shows alive!

Matt S gave it a10:
I was impressed with this show, as I am fascinated by the brain. I didn't mind that the doctor show format is not entirely original as far as writing. The subject matter and the actors made it enlightening for me. The second episode dealing with the differences between left and right brain was especially interesting.

Beth M gave it a10:
Best show since house

Heidi O gave it a10:
I loved this show! And absolutely disappointed that it was cancelled. I especially loved the last episode where Stanley Tucci charater was humanized...Any person to score this show below a 7 obviously has no brains or a heart!

Charlie M gave it a9:
I love the show. I only hate Mark Feuerstein and that Indira woman (The one who slept with a face blind patient last week). Tucci is excellent, through, yes he should talk more, and Fuererstein less, Varma not at all. Too bad it is cancelled. Perhaps they should move it out of the frey and into the traffic.

[Anonymous] gave it a7:
A wonderfull, promising show. Have patience! Mark Feuerstein plays a passionate, caring doctor and the audience knows it...How can you not tune in to find out what happens next? Does Dr. Hanson truly have a brain disorder? Time will tell.
