Arrested Development is the best sitcom on TV... and the season 2 boxed set only offers further proof. [14 Oct 2005, p.133]

It may take some time for new viewers to become accustomed to the style of the show, but those who take the time to get to know the Bluth family will be well rewarded. [Individual grades: Style A-, Substance A, Image B+, Audio B+, Extras A-]

The laughs-per-minute quotient here is insanely high, making it great value as a home library purchase.

Showcases the comedy's oddball twists and frenetic pacing, and overlooked moments of hilarity come to light with each repeated viewing. [28 Nov 2005, p.55]

Each of the episodes was in and of itself was a perfect gem of comedy, strung together by sharp writing and fantastic performances.

There's a lot to like in its savage satire of corporate-think, greed and sanctified notions of the American family - particularly in the inspired and original performances of Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor.

There are running gags that can't be appreciated by watching an episode of the show, but fans that watch the entire season are rewarded with brilliant writing, and excellent acting. [Individual grades: Video 9, Audio 8, Extras 3]

It's more layered, more densely packed with bits of comedy than just about any other show on TV.

Like Seinfeld before it, Arrested Development impressively combines cultural touchstones with an innately clever humor that avoids being too witty for its own good.

If this DVD set delivers the laughs, it's stingy with the extras.

Dan A gave it a10:
The funniest sit-com ever created and a show that ended way too early. Every character has some bizarre and humorous issue that persists to be explored at their expense. Every episode was fresh and funny. A previous poster, James J, you said AD was a decent show but then gave it a ZERO rating. How does "decent" translate into a zero you trollriffic moron?!?
R S gave it a10:
The funniest TV show of all time, even funnier than Curb You Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, the Office (British version), and Fawlty Towers. C'MON!
Nick G gave it a10:
This must be the best and funniest show ever created. Definitely deserves universal acclaim.
Avery C gave it a3:
Imagine reading a script. It wouldn't be funny. Imagine hanging out with or dating any of the characters, you'd be either bored or horrified. People claim that this show is highly intelligent, but that's the illusion of all satire. Satire, because, by definition, it's critical, oppositional, aloof, always seems bright and clever, even when it very much isn't. The social satire of Martin Amis and Oscar Wilde is brilliant, but the writers for AD simply aren't in the same league as Amis or Wilde. I've never met someone with an Ivy League degree (or even any serious graduate degree) who likes this show. I should say that while I enjoy Bateman, I think Cross and Arnett are two of the most annoying people on the planet. I dislike the phenomenon of this show because it's not praised as being enjoyable or funny, but for being intelligent, which it isn't. Whenever I meet someone who love sthis show, I think "that person hates rich people and beautiful people. That person simplistically equates intelligence with the portrayal of life as fundamentally nihilistic and unfair." AD is a show for people who can't get laid , who suck at sports, and who aren't smart enough to get Oscar Wilde.
Ethan W gave it a9:
An undeniably hilarious show, with great acting, character development, and an interesting plot that leaves room for an interesting portrayal of greed, irresponsibility, and self-centered behavior. Very entertaining, although i gave it a 9 just because some jokes aren't funny. Still, this show could go on a very wrong time since the producers keep the show going in the right direction. And James J is a moron; he gave no reason as to why it's a 0 and usually decent means 4-6.
Kort P gave it a10:
Perfect TV show!
J R gave it a10:
Most intelligent sit-com ever created.
