Big Love works as well as it does, which is fairly well, because it's thoughtful and playful, and it approaches its sensational subject with restraint.

It's lurid, violent and grotesque, but how disappointed would we be if a soap set in a women's prison were anything but?

It takes a while, but the women of "Bad Girls" eventually draw you in.

Despite a setting ripe for satire, this has none. It's straight genre melodrama. But that may be your thing.

Deborah M. gave it a10:
One of the best show's ever

Miriam H. gave it an8:
It's a soap. And the only one I watch! And I really like it and look forward to it!

Deloris M. gave it a10:
I don't think you understood the show. wing governor Helen Steward did not have a husband. You also must understand, this is a soap opera. I loved it the first time I saw it. Someone need to get Simone Lahbib & Mandana Jones to do a project here in America.

Laura R gave it a10:
I love the drama. There is always something brewing in this women's prison, and with Helen at the helm, this ship will too be righted.

Lee T gave it a10:
For the entertainment value...it can't be beat. Story lines are ongoing and mostly believible...... I really like the two Julies and the love story betweek Nikki and Helen. Hope we get to see all 8 seasons here in the US.

K gave it a9:
Brilliant tv show. Requires suspension of disbelief, but addresses a lot of controversial issues with insight and respect--bullying, sexuality, child abuse, rape, &c. The acting is generally excellent and there's great British humour. Don't bother watching after the third season, though--goes downhill rapidly.
