You'll be happy to know that every second -- particularly every second with Sedgwick onscreen -- is pretty much a joy.

Brenda and Bill have enough reluctant chemistry and icky tension to make Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter proud. [18 Jul 2008, p.56]

It's good news that much of Season 4 will focus on Brenda's investigative team and on police department politics.

Developments in Brenda's private life also lend the episode some comic relief, which makes "The Closer" a well-balanced prime-time drama that has improved markedly from its earliest episodes.

R.M. P.e gave it a10:
One of the best shows on television. The writing is great, the characters are wonderful and who doesn't love Brenda?
Raprilc gave it a10:
Man, I love this show! It's got one of the best supporting casts on television, the guest stars are almost always excellent, and Kyra of course keeps the whole shebang together. "The Closer" blends crime, humor, romance, and family, and I love love love the cultural diversity on display.
Suellen R. gave it a10:
Writers, actors, cast selection, all involved with this remarkable show get a high ten, most especially Kyra Sedgwick. She deserves a standing ovation every Monday night. Drama, melodrama, humor, diverse characters, great actoring, story content, this show has everything going for it. Keep up the great work. You're getting better every year.
Ted gave it an8:
Good show, good stories, still there is something disjointed about it all, and Sedgwick's character is not someone I'd want to marry.
Brandon S. gave it a6:
The Closer's a pretty good summer show. Season 3 was their best yet, but the premiere of Season 4 was dreadful. Hopefully they'll get it together again and let the supporting cast do something more than just give Brenda people to bark at.
Madge gave it a9:
How much do I love The Closer? The cast is fabulous and the stories funny, interesting, and intelligent. Keep it coming, TNT!
