Neither as incisive as The Office, nor as over-the-top loony as Reno 911!, Dog ends up being too much bark and not quite enough bite. [9 Jun 2006, p.132]

It's not surprising television writers would find television funny. It's gratifying they can make it funny for us, too.

It's highly entertaining.

Yes, this is more cover-your-eyes, cringe comedy -- the kind of funny that's hard to watch because it only works when innocent passersby, people like you, are manipulated and humiliated on camera.

There's no question that "Dog Bites Man"... scales heights of hilarity, more than one might have a right to expect. But there's a problem: Virtually all the characters are detestable in one way or another, and partly as a result, the show never seems grounded.

It works the cringe comedy formula reasonably well.

In its zeal to zing local TV news, "Dog" loses any flavor of authenticity, which is absolutely essential for effective satire.

Improv techniques aside, I'd just settle for a funny script.

This disappointing new series operates by one rule alone: When all else fails, refer to genitalia.

Joe Bob gave it a10:
superb display of raw emotion and talent! Kudos boys (and girl)!

Patrick N gave it a9:
This is a very funny show, and demonstrates that off-color humor is better when it hasn't been "dumbed down". The cast is first-rate, and although not all scenes hit their mark, the ones that do will have you rolling on the floor

Aaron L gave it a9:
Very, very funny show. About as witty as other documentary-style comedies like Waiting for Guffman and Curb Your Enthusiasm, just with more emphasis on toilet humor, a la Ali G. The creators need some time to flush out the characters and pacing a bit more. But Comedy Central should give them that chance. This show has tremendous potential - don't let it go!

scott n gave it a10:
funniest show i've ever seen i want it back.....NOW!

Y Tella gave it a10:
Not suprised there are some Zero ratings here. Its really sad that there's always some people out there that just dont have a well developed sense of humor. This show is great. Sorry, if you don't get it.

G G gave it a10:
Every one of the four main characters is hilarious. Great stuff. Whens the next espisode ????

dan c gave it a10:
By far the BEST show that has come out of Comedy Central in years! The whole KHBX team is great and make the show hilarious. I hope the network sees how funny and original this series is and keeps iy up for many more seasons to come.
