The five-disc DVD gathers the impressive 22 episodes. The flashy photography and frenetic editing push TV drama in stylish new directions.

This DVD set isn't the best you'll find in terms of picture quality and extras, but when it comes to the most important content - the show itself--you'll be hard pressed to find a more engrossing DVD release.

The Friday Night Lights set has remarkably informative documentaries, too, and deleted scenes that are so well-acted, and so memorable, you wonder how they were left on the cutting-room floor.

Alas, for those who've already seen the episodes and don't plan to watch them again, the set doesn't offer much that's compelling.

Though disappointingly short on extras (and missing some of the goodies from the NBC video Web site), the best soap opera on TV was all about the episodes anyway.

The deleted scenes in this five-disc set provide further evidence of the solid work consistently done by the actors, particularly leading man Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and Adrianne Palicki, who plays the troubled Tyra. Stalwart fans of the show--yes, there are a few of us out there--may be a little disappointed in the collection's generally limited extras.

Michael H gave it a10:
This is the best show on television for many years...maybe ever. The acting, directing, and writing are just phenomenal and they gel together into an almost seamless whole. I can't really put my finger on what element makes this show happen but it just works. Maybe this is a sign of an actual masterwork? Very occasional miscues and false notes, which only shows how consistently, organically excellent the rest of the show is...I would give it a 12 if I could.
Mark C gave it a10:
By far the best show on television right now. Great acting, extremely absorbing, very believable. I am a fan of Sopranos and The Wire, but this show is just more absorbing.
Dylan S gave it an8:
Not the best show on TV, but certainly in the top 10.
John D. gave it a10:
Sorry, there's nothing better on TV.
Jake C. gave it a10:
This show has heart.
Joe T. gave it a10:
The first drama seen in a long, long time - when were the first seasons of NYPD Blue & ER again? - that I'm excited to watch (and re-watch).
Quist gave it a10:
Very underrated. Better than most people make it out to be.
