Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Conrad, and Aisha Tyler

Not only does Jennifer Love Hewitt see dead people, she talks to them too. It's only a matter of time before they tell her: "You're cancelled." Unless having Hewitt run around in a nightgown is enough to secure decent ratings. (Which, come to think of it, might just do it.)

What is special about "Ghost Whisperer" is the way it gets everything else right -- casting, acting, writing, directing, pacing, music, you name it.

Ghost Whisperer can be surprisingly moving. [24 Oct 2005, p.41]

USA Today Robert Bianco
Doubtless this kind of death-walking sentimentality has its fans. And most of those fans probably won't even wonder why some of the dead are stuck in the clothes in which they died, while others get to rent tuxedos.

Hewitt is quite good, or as good as the show allows; there are some potholes along the way, as the script sacrifices sense to sentiment.

The problem with "Ghost Whisperer" is its lack of focus.

A mini-triumph of style over substance (of which there is almost none).

My "Sixth Sense" says "Ghost Whisperer" isn't a very good show at all.

Neither Ms. Hewitt nor her series are malevolent forces, and the producers can feel as good as they choose about a cloying job well done.

It's all a bunch of mush, but I suspect it's mush that will find a receptive audience.

A series like this can go in a lot of different directions, and creator-writer-director John Gray takes them there. He goes for the scary, the funny and the overbearingly sentimental, but it is the latter that dominates.

The problem is a lack of depth; "Joan of Arcadia," the series this is replacing, had heartfelt moments and significant emotion behind its storylines. Whereas this has Love telling ghosties to head for the light.

At times during ''Ghost Whisperer," the sentiment is so thick you might want to go away from the light -- the light from the TV set, that is.

Not only is this one of the more melodramatic, sappy, empty pilots on the slate, but the ghosts she encounters are hopelessly sweet and sentimental.

Ann R. gave it a0:
Makes the supernatural look like pure evil.

Rene R. gave it a10:
Why are all of these negative comments about Ghost Whisper!! It is an awesome show!! Melinda is such a good actress and this show is so touching. Please put Ghost Whisper back on!!

Naomi L. gave it a10:
I love this show!!! How can they cancel it!! I couldn't wait for Friday to come so my neighbors and I can watch it together. This is an outrage!!! We want to see Ghost Whisper!! I am going to write a letter to CBS and have every one sign it!! We want it back on.

Kevin L. gave it a2:
The premise of the series is quite interesting, with a great potential, however, the show does not carry that. The corny writing along with effects that aren't convincing, Ghost Whisperer could not maintain a consistent quality to its plot. The show itself is boring and cheesy but you'd have to watch out on a lucky day where the show could potentially get better. It has good episodes but most of it isn't so great.

Ignazio F. gave it a9:
I gave it a 9 because the show does have some flaws with the death-live scenario, but as I've always said. If a show can make cry, it's a good one.

Samira gave it a10:
I want you guys to send me her every book for free if that is ok.
