The cast here is outstanding, there's smart writing and the mixture of comedy and drama is blended together exceptionally well, so much so that it's difficult to properly categorize Huff.

[It is] something like following "The Sopranos' " Dr. Melfi home from the office. But with fewer deaths.

The show's strength is its energy and its ability to surprise.

Sometimes it's Frasier, sometimes The Sopranos--sometimes American Beauty.

Billi Ann H gave it a10:
Absolutely love it. Performances are great. One of the best series I have seen. Can't wait until Season 2 DVD series comes out.
David W gave it a10:
awsome show. I never thought after the first episode that i would keep watching but I have and its been really rewarding. Amazing performances, and just overall great drama. It is not always an easy show to watch, but it has so much truth about family and life.
Marty S. gave it a10:
Society generally has terrible taste in television (see: Grey's Anatomy's mind-boggling acclaim). But I like the fact that this show has generally avoided mainstream attention. It's simply too good for the masses and better enjoyed by people who enjoy top-shelf acting, writing and directing. Best drama in years.
Jesse gave it a10:
Love this show! I rented the first DVD based on metacritic reviews, and ended up buying the season. Engaging, hilarious, very well-written TV
Adam L. gave it a3:
Oliver Platt is hilarious here, as he so often is. But the rest of the show revels in bad parenting, bad psychology, and bad drama, all of which we've seen before a thousand times.
Steve M gave it a10:
Possibly one of the best 1st seasons of any show. RIGHT up there with 6feet unders emotional underlay and razor sharp comedy. All the actors deserved an emmy, simply amazing
Steve G. gave it a10:
A fantastic cast, and great characters with real depth. I really enjoy the use of symbolism and social comentary (that sounded smart hehe). Huff's family displays a whole set of problems that most familys miss because they are too worried about money... One of the best shows on TV.
