TV GuideMatt Roush

With echoes of Tarantino and "Dog Day Afternoon," this tough, unusually well-cast eight-hour "event" series is an instantly gripping winner.

Kill Point gets off to a strong start with a tense outing driven along by two strong, combative performances.

Wahlberg and Leguizamo flex their acting muscles in nearly every scene, and co-exec producer/director Steve Shill finds the right angle to keep the story taut.

Making the show interesting is the face-off of two solid actors in the lead roles.

It's the sort of thing that gives popular entertainment a good name.

The best thing about The Kill Point right off is the stars. The casting is perfect, especially the leads - the always magnetic Donnie Wahlberg and the fascinatingly good John Leguizamo

That said, the performances are generally sharp (the broad cast notably includes two alums of "The Wire," JD Williams and Michael K. Williams), and Leguizamo's exchanges with Wahlberg - cast in yet another steely cop role - have a rugged edge.

While the first hour is marred by clunky dialogue, characters making unbelievable decisions and disappointing performances from a few supporting players, the second hour offers more fully developed characters and better plot twists.

The Kill Point is quite enjoyable, gripping and predictable in equal parts, almost a mercifully abbreviated "24."

LA WeeklyRobert Abele

I’m not saying things won’t probably reach the kind of explosive, blazing-guns-and-body-count conclusion Spike TV loyalists expect - bad guys must meet bad ends - but until then I feel confident that the mostly well-made The Kill Point will honor the glories of chesslike suspense storytelling, and the drama of how to prevent mayhem from happening.

The Kill Point will distend long before it ends. And that's too bad, because the opening two hours, are engaging.

The two principals are compelling, the two-hour pilot has some grit, and we are obviously going to get the backstory of everybody on the floor of the bank.

Even with lots of twitchy posttraumatic stress on display, The Kill Point feels like something of a retread.

loved this show...sad to see it end! John L. and Donnie W. are fantastic...hope to see them in more tv shows.....

Don 0311 gave it a4:
The plot is decent, but I apologize, I have to be the "angry Marine" who is disappointed with how my service is portrayed. I'm not offended that the writers chose Marines to be the bad guys, however I am pretty much disgusted with how most of America is indifferent with differentiating soldiers from Marines. Maybe coming from an overtrained eye (I'm sure this isn't the case), I know Marines don't exactly engage firefights like how the bank robbers did. Nonetheless, I do know that Marines do not refer to each other as "soldiers" blah blah blah... high and tights... blah blah blah... corpsman not medic... blah blah blah. Maybe I'm angry because I've been trained to have an over-sensitivity to attention-to-detail. I don't know, that's just me. All in all- 7 for plot, 5 for possibly good intentions/effort, and 0 for accuracy= Overall, 4. Semper Fi soliders, uh I mean, Marines.

I thought this miniseries was the best i have ever seen although i was sad about the ending considering i love mr.wolf he stole the show for me yet i really took to the political view this show gave about the war it hurts my feelings to see that this is in how our soldiers are being treated i hope that they make more series with either john leguizamo or donnie wahlberg.

D. M. gave it a10:

MARY H gave it a10:
Stupendous, riviting, superbly acted, couldn't wait until the next episode. But--my heart bled for Wolf and I "bonded" with him thru it all. Mary.
