The resolution with the ghost is plenty satisfying, but ultimately Medium's strength is that it's not about the ghosts.

Get beyond that preposterous premise outlined above, and you've got a solid piece of prime-time entertainment. This show knows what it is, and knows exactly what the core audience expects.

It's "Ghost Whisperer" for adults, the equivalent of a movie you're happy you didn't pay to see at the theater, but content enough to have rented--amiable, distracting, and professionally crafted.

Parts of tonight's episode and next week's also focus on the Dubois offspring and their own burgeoning psychic abilities, yet another growth opportunity for a show that keeps finding a way to survive in an ever-tougher world.

In an episode like next week's, in which Allison spots the ghost of a recently deceased man watching a murder, the twistiness works; in one like tonight's, featuring a complicated web of affairs, betrayals and possible reincarnations, things become so tangled that the story and Arquette can't keep up.

Beatrice M. gave it a10:
Knocks Ghost Whisperer out of the ball park.
Chris B gave it a9:
It's a bit early in the season to judge, maybe should have waited a bit. There's a little too much getting crammed into the first two shows, so the details that used to keep me interested are getting glossed over or just not there. Still, great and fun acting - Jake's growing role in the show is good to see, he's a great actor in the role.
Anita D. gave it an8:
The writing this season is better that before (so far). I hope they can keep this up.
Neil L. gave it a10:
One of the best series ever. This is my second favorite show on TV after Lost. I'm glad to have both back on at once.
