Chicago Tribune
On a night when original TV fare is hard to come by, this well-made movie is a pleasing option.

Proves to be slick, intelligent, reasonably entertaining -- and blessed with an alluring lead.

If this becomes a series, they'll need to up both the dialogue and Eric Dane's screen time. [9 Dec 2005, p.83]
Pittsburgh Post-GazetteRob Owen
"Painkiller Jane" is an odd duck. It begins promisingly enough, then gets bogged down in setting up Jane chaffing at her military keepers before becoming more action-packed once she escapes.

There's too much musicvideo-style editing and too little action.

John D gave it a10:
great movie stinks that there isnt a sequal at least i dont know about one
Bill F gave it a3:
Poorly paced, predictable and painless. There are much better series out there with a female action lead. She is very attractive to watch for a few minutes but there is no depth to the story or the acting. "Barb Wire" was slated mainly for having Pam Anderson in it but this is far worse and I actually liked "Barb Wire". You could also try "Witchblade" as the acting and plots are much better. The pilot really pulled me into watching the series. "Painless Jane" ensures I will not bother with the series if it is ever made.
Jerell P gave it a9:
One of the best TV movie (Pilots) of 2005, and the Sci Fi Channel movie since Taken.
Ryan B gave it a5:
I gave up on this show . It became too pretencious while she was being held by the army and then the action became ridiculous.
Marc D. gave it a7:
Great build-up of a story, but it felt like the first half of a pilot. It didn't develop anything. Let's see more of this sucker!
MIKE W gave it a10:
This has to be one of the best pilots since Alias. No goofy characters that are always wisecracking but just good entertainment. Great cast, Richrd Roundtree was great and Emmanuelle Vaugier has the look and acting ability to make this a long lasting series. Let's get this out of the can and into the Sci-Fi channel lineup.
