Entertainment WeeklyHenry Goldblatt

Everything [Kirstie] Alley's Fat Actress should've been: warm, warts-and-all self-satire. [31 Mar 2006, p.58]

Los Angeles TimesRobert Lloyd

While this sort of thing has been done before -- "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on the high end of Hollywood self-referentiality, and the nasty, brutish and short-lived "Fat Actress" with Kirstie Alley on the low -- it has been done here exceedingly well.

New York PostLinda Stasi

[A] very witty, sometimes brilliantly insightful hybrid sitcom.

The writing is pointed, the direction tight. But what really makes it work is Tori herself, light, bright and vulnerably likable.

Hollywood ReporterBarry Garron

She creates an appealing character despite all the preconceptions, many of which are acknowledged and dispensed with in the first few scenes.

New York Daily NewsDavid Hinckley

As Hollywood comedies go, "So Notorious" is better than "Fat Actress" or Lisa Kudrow's "The Comeback," but not in the same league as "Curb Your Enthusiasm" or "Entourage."

Boston GlobeJoanna Weiss

This is a pleasant, farcical romp through the familiar terrain of obnoxious roommates, dating mishaps, and Hollywood sets.

This is up-to-the-minute celebrity kitsch--zippy, knowing, and joyfully hollow.

LA WeeklyRobert Abele

She’s turned what assuredly were hurtful years of feeling like a show-biz freak into friendly TV fodder that relieves viewers of the need to point while they snicker.

It's like Lisa Kudrow's Comeback without the satiric contempt. [10 Apr 2006, p.35]

The biggest problem with "so noTORIous" is that the laughs, when they come, are few and far between.

awesome show and hilarious my favorite so far

Absolutely my favorite show to come along in YEARS(!). To say this is a breath of fresh air (from the horribly stale variety of "formula" sitcoms and reality shows) is like saying the Grand Canyon is a hole in the ground. A very inspired, fun, and witty show, with brilliantly written episodes, and a solid supporting cast. The constantly-disoriented agent is funny after about 2 episodes. This show really grows on you.

Sebastien C gave it a10:
I love it... Tori, you rock !!!

Lynne W gave it a10:
My favorite new show of the season. Tori does such a clever job of poking fun at herself I don't want to miss an episode..Loni is inspried choice too for the mom. Wonderful alternative TV, refreshingly creative change of pace from formula network sitcoms. Aaron must be proud of his clever and talented daughter.

Nick P gave it a10:
This show just knocked me outta my seat. I am now a devoted Tori fan (I'll have to read that a few times) ;-) The cast is PERFECT the guest stars are awesome Loni Anderson Cleo King, and the rest are just a breath of fresh air. This has easily become my most looked forward-to-TiVo show! I love you all! Keep 'em comin'!

nana b gave it a10:
Love it! Hope it stays on for a long while! Tori is so funny!

Kat M gave it a9:
Tori Spelling is as funny and charming as Lucille Ball and I just LOVE this SHOW! Many reviewers fault the writing for being too dry and stilted...DUH! They obviously don't get it! GREAT SHOW, TS!!
