An entertaining ego-blast, which follows the martial-artist actor with the criminal hairline during his real-life, part-time job: Louisiana deputy sheriff.

Newark Star-LedgerAlan Sepinwall

It's easily the funniest thing he's done since the climactic speech from "On Deadly Ground" (his infamous directorial debut about evil oil companies polluting the Alaskan wilderness), and one of the more entertaining additions to the Has-Beens On Parade reality sub-genre.

Kansas City StarAaron Barnhart

Seagal has always been known for his martial arts prowess, for his dark, Charles Bronson view of the world and for doing his own stunts. These all come to the fore in this absorbing docu-series.

Watch, if only for novelty's sake, although it is lots of fun to see the Zen master teach bemused, if slightly fearful, cops the fundamentals of Aikido.

Mindless, good fun and a hoot to watch aging action stars still taking action.

There's not much drama, although you wouldn't know it from the fancy production values.

Frankly, given the muted level of excitement in the episodes that launch the series, Seagal fans would be better served watching one of his old movies on cable--or full-time cops on "Cops."

I've never given much thought to Seagal one way or another, but until I saw the two episodes of Lawman that will be premiering back-to-back tomorrow night, I'd probably have pegged him as the strong, silent type. If only. Turns out the man never shuts up.

Ken A gave it a2:
This is more of a comedy...I just can't stop laughing watching every episode...too FUNNY!!!!!

Sammy M gave it a5:
Watched several episodes consecutively one nite. It was enough for me! To each his own, I guess. Seagal has gotten way too chubby to have believability as an action hero. IMHO

anonymous gave it a10:
I used to hate Steven Seagal....then I watched this show. It's awesome. He is a better cop then the full time cops. He's apparently been a reservist Deputy Sheriff for 20 years, whatever that is. It's way better than the show Cops becuase most of those guys are pricks. However, Seagal and these cops seem to be genuinely good guys trying to clean up the streets of New Orleans...Seagal style. I'll be watching.

anonymous gave it a6:
The show is fairly entertaining, but it falls short from what I hoped for. Which, considering a show starring Segal, I should've known better. It seems like that from the couple of episodes I watched is that Segal is pretty much looking good for the camera and doing ho-hum work on the street, while his fellow officers who are out on the street with them do most of the work, and then Segal explains to us what they just did like we're stupid. With that said, it's okay, just not as great as I thought it would be.

Keith P gave it a10:
Move over Wyatt Earp. Clearly, if he wanted to be a full-time officer, he'd be the greatest ever. His Zen powers are amazing, as well as his ability to shoot q-tips and matchsticks with handgun. That I tell you, is no easy feat.

Chuck Norris gave it a5:
Maybe he should become a Ranger like me...er uh Walker. Not that he is just acting the part, but he doesn't run, he doesn't get to cuff the perps and he has to wear that vest that helps to show off his frequent visits to the pasta. Maybe he should try my Total Gym.

tim d gave it a10:
The whole idea is to be entertained. I liked it although it had it's corny moments which made it that much more real. As for so called self indulged critics out there, I tend not to listen to anything they have to say. After all, critic is another word for opinion!
