Just think of all the stolen ideas as a public works program for Hollywood lawyers and stick to the action on-screen, which is quite entertaining.

It's just an Amazing Race knockoff. [16 Jun 2006, p.72]
New York PostLinda Stasi
The format is so complicated and the contestants so unappealing that the show misses the mark.

If you've only watched a few episodes of ["The Amazing Race"] but never really appreciated its ability to amaze, tune in for an episode of "Treasure Hunters" and you'll begin to understand just how high "TAR" has set the bar.

The problem with "Treasure Hunters" is the same problem with "Amazing Race": It just feels like all the competing teams are spinning their wheels by solving clues.

It is obvious in just the first few minutes who the real winners are -- members of the NBC sales department. Collectively, they have taken product placement to new and annoying heights.

"Treasure Hunters" is too flimsy a pillar to help structure NBC's reality-television future.

"Treasure Hunters" is slickly annoying right off the bat.

Because so many viewers will have seen this kind of reality show before, their minds may start to wander by the second commercial break.

Dull and plodding, "Hunters" is no reality TV treasure.

The racing around adds up to a chaotic bore without a hint of originality, as well as the most confusing set of rules for a reality show since the first season of "The Mole."

i thought treasure hunters was one of the best reality shows out there. it was even educational and made me want to learn more about american history. season two better be coming!
John M gave it a9:
I thought this show was fresh in the "Reality" aspect. It at least for the viewers, brought intrique into history. The using logic for solving clues was refreshing. It beats Reality shows, that people watch like Big Brother, that have no plots whatsoever other than to coexist for a few months and drize each other crazy, or Survivor, Lets see how long we can starve, try to start a fire, and eat vile things for money. I think people turn to those type shows to watch the pure moronic souls complain each week, when they signed up knowing full well what was in store. It should be renamed Who is the Morons This Time? At least Treasure Hunters provided some entertainment with knowlege. Only downfall was the finale episode that was live.
Al S gave it a9:
Enjoyed it alot. Hope to see episode 2 soon.
Jeremy W gave it a7:
I felt this was an entertaining show. I enjoyed the puzzles and seeing teams use their brains to unravel them, instead of just using physical challenges like so many shows. It was well-paced. The one big fix for next season: Get rid of stiff old Laird. He was ok on the phone, but the live show was awful.
Crystal R gave it a10:
I loev this show
MJ HARVEY gave it a4:
This show failed to engage the viewer and left no suspense. All too often the teams seemed to get help from off camera when they were struggling to find the clue / hidden chambers. It would have been better to have less teams and focus on the puzzle solving. IF it does come back it needs revamping and a new host.
Ray gave it a1:
Boring, boring, boring. Production was terrible and the host was terrible. The teams were cliches and not fun to watch at all. Please do not bring this travesty back. Did I mention how boring it was?
