They just keep on getting better and better!! Bounty hunters are incredible, plots are very good and the intro of Savage Opress is epic, this really is the defining series about Anakin's turmoil within him, very powerful and poetic season this is.
This is easily the best cartoon I've ever watched in my life!!! It'd be my wish to see the same production team do a series based on other time periods in the Expanded Universe. The writing, sound design and action are top notch... the show only gets better.
The show just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? I'm probably one of the few that enjoyed both the first (focused on politics mainly) and second halves of the season. They're both really compelling with great characters! The Mortis trilogy episodes are perfect and are true standouts.
This show is getting better and better; I've been recently collecting the individual seasons of it on Blu-Ray (good quality that is...), and this definitely beats series 1 AND 2, and that's impressive as the second series is great! This series expands the universe and develops the plot to an exiting extent! It really gets you to become attached to the main characters in frantic battles and emotional developments. A trilogy that trilogy that shows off these aspects is "the Mortis Trilogy" being intriguing story-wise as well as being action filled and exiting. Star Wars: the Clone Wars Season 3 is the best I've seen so far, so I give it... 9/10!
It is a relatively good season but also a bit of a decline from season 2 and sometimes a small disappointment. To clarify: This season has also great episodes and really strong character development atop of one of the greatest teasers of the show and the last 5 episodes are pure awesomeness. I will praise this with a spoiler free description in my favorite episode list. On the negative side season 3 has some problems. Lets start with the timeline. I am confused how certain events are set in the overall timeline. I am not talking about the flashback in the first episode of season 3. I mean that Senator Onacconda Farr is being present in Season 3 which should not be possible as he ultimately “quit” in season 2 episode 15 without a chance of being rehired (except it is a redcon). Because he appears in some episodes I am puzzled about the order of the events in the timeline or which episodes are a flashback continuity wise (Must be prior season 2 episodes). Other events and recurring characters developments point out that other parts happen after season 2 events. Update: There is different chronological order and it is worse then I thought. You can find a list with the correct order with this link: ****/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder?repeat=w3tc (If you do not see the link properly just google it. Had problems with links here before). Another weakness is that there are more weaker or less awesome episodes in this season. Season 2 had many awesome moments and really good multi episode stories. Here we got some things that do not work that good for me. For itself we got some good new characters with for example 99, Savage Opress, the Nightsisters in general, Ashokas cadets and others. Of cause some familiar faces return and we got a teaser for a character that will appear later and is a fan favorite. For the rest the animations are good as always, the soundtrack left noting to regret. My favorites are: “Clone Cadets” and “ARC Troopers” which are connected for the backstory of the Domino Squad, 99 who is the best and bravest of them all and good pacing / action. “Sphere of influence” for the return of Riyo Chuchi, set up and political cat and mouse game with a conclusion that is so satisfying. “Corruption” and “The Academy” who are connected for the continuation of the Mandalore arc, Ahsoka, the cadets and climax. “Hunt for Zero” for the plots, Cad Bane and mostly the battle. “Heroes on both Sides” for showing that there is more than white and black morality in the conflict for us viewers and Ahsoka too. On a sidenote: Most if not nearly all citizens of the Separatist do not know about the crimes and ruthless actions of their military (They would never approve). For them it is propaganda of the corrupt Republic (The Republic has a serious corruption problem to be also fair and is already shown in the show). “Pursuit of Peace” for the interesting dilemma and strong speech. Then the three connected episodes “Nightsisters”, Monster” and “Witches of the Mist” for Asajj Ventress and we learn a lot about her baggage and past, Savage Opress and bringing the Nightsisters of Dathomir into the show (The Nightsisters have force abilities that resemble more magic and rituals but have access to abilities that baffle Jedi and Sith alike sometimes). The following 3 connected episodes on Mortis do not impress me and I find them rather weak maybe except for the concept (they add nothing except foreshadowing events we already know will happen). I must point out that many find them really good so I mention them here. The episode “The Citadel”, “Counter Attack” and “Citadel Rescue” are practically a heist story and cat and mouse game against a competent foe in a disadvantageous situation. It has the action, paceing and immersion to be a highlight. Also we see a younger version of an iconic Star Wars character I wont spoil. I recommend here the book by James Luceno for this character as you get insights and I must admit that I got some reluctant respect for him even when I disagree with his ideas or doctrine. The final episodes “Padawan Lost” and “Wookie Hunt” are Ahsoka episodes and shown how much she has grow. I also like the younglings and especially Kalifla. Also a really familiar face is introduced. Remark: I hate what they do with Kalifla at the end and predicted this outcome as she got so much more development than the others. It angered me enough to subtract a point for my overall rating. Overall it is stronger than season 1 but weaker than season 2. It has its moments but also weaker episodes. Was still good enough that I continued to watch the show.
The plot, character development and dialogue are an improvement over the first two seasons, but it still comes across as clunky and disjointed at times.
