Hoechlin is only set to appear in the season’s first two episodes. But his premiere flight as Superman and Supergirl’s CW debut are both very, very good and represent the best DC Comics television has to offer.
With season 2, it really feels as if Supergirl--unburdened by whatever behind-the-scenes decisions kept the show from embracing the Superman of it all--just discovered an entirely new sandbox to play around in, one that opens the doors to seemingly endless story possibilities for both the Girl of Steel and the Arrowverse as a whole.
Supergirl throws the house out the window at her end of the season. The two season finale we've seen so far from Supergirl have touched on the same theme: how Kara is capable of sacrificing herself for saving not only the people she wants, but the whole world. Always choose the good of the majority over their personal preferences. In this case, that choice breaks his heart and, in passing, leaves one of the most ambitious chapters that the series has done so far. The second season of Supergirl has enhanced the superheroic and action side more than the workplace comedy and romantic comedy tones she had at the beginning. In general, it has worked, although as with all The CW series, the middle section of the delivery has suffered a bit and has only been saved by the way in which Alex's closet was counted.
I tried watching season 1 of Supergirl and could not watch more than 3 episodes. However, I decided to give the second season a chance and was pleasantly surprised to see how much it had improved. The chemistry among the cast is better and the addition of new characters such as Mon-el (played by Chris Wood), M'gann and Maggie have greatly improved the quality of the show.
Hoechlin nails the bespectacled, gawky side of Clark Kent, and if he doesn’t seem quite as intense as other on-screen Supermen, the Teen Wolf alum hits the right, big-brotherly vibe with Benoist. Still, more doesn’t always mean merrier: The second season premiere fails to take flight in its clunky introductions of new villains (look, a new Luthor — sort of!) and explosive-but-tiresome action sequences. ... Instead, the hour shines most when it focuses on Kara’s struggle.
Supergirl very much plays in the same brightly colored playground as The Flash, sprinkling in nerdy nods (“Miss Tessmacher!”) with vivid action sequences. Serving up an ongoing villainous threat, though, seems to remain its storytelling Kryptonite.
Great show. This really takes you to where we were all wishing to be in season 1. With Superman at her side Supergirl has a lot more going for her and her character is getting better and better.
The only achievement of Season 2 is that it is better than Season 1. That is only because they are able to bring in more lore into it. Finally Superman makes an appearance over here. We are also introduced to Mon-El, whom Kara had severely wronged but then she learns her lesson and decides never to be racist towards anyone ever again. Speaking of racism, it seems that is what the theme of the season is. There are multiple alien species who have come up and started living on this planet. The previous Hank Henshaw has become Cyborg Superman (don't get excited, he's nothing like the one from The Death and Return of Superman). We also get to see Mr Mxyzptlk, whose role here is only to simp behind Supergirl. Also we have the Daxamites as the bad guys over here, who are at least more competent than the house of Els. The season is, once again, very boring and makes Kryptonians look like a bunch of wimps, but like I said, it's at least better than Season 1.
Oh wow this series is the most divisive TV superhero show every written. Who is actually the demograph for this show? How many american progressive Democrat feminists do they think will sit around for this BS? I am so done with one sided teenage college level of activist writing. Fans just want to see Supergirl punch things and use powers not preach one sided politics. Well the 1v1 against guess you know who? Yeah of course it had only one way to go in a show of this type and I bet everyone called the outcome of that fight. Yeah whatever bye Supergirl or is it SJW Girl, lol.
I was excited to view this show as I have enjoyed Supergirl in the comic books, and was hoping that the show would be about Supergirl. Now the show has been hijacked by the political correctness train. I really am thankful that I Tivo this show to fast forward when Supergirl's step sister and the policewoman appear in the scene. Also I am not fond of everyone wanting to be a super hero, including James Olsen's character being now black and his lame super hero costume and abilities. Stick with Supergirl's issues and battles and quit trying to make statements about **** or racist issues.
