Oct 12, 2013In many ways it may have been better to have ended Supernatural following its excellent fifth season. As has increasingly been the case sinceIn many ways it may have been better to have ended Supernatural following its excellent fifth season. As has increasingly been the case since that seasons finale the show has sometimes felt as though it is retreading old ground and many episodes have lacked the payoff we have come to expect when it was at its peak. Even in a show as unpredictable as Supernatural it is not always easy to accept when the Winchesters yet again escape trouble thanks to ‘leaps of logic’ or as a result of a fortunate coincidence for example.
That’s not to say that the Supernatural remains anything less than watchable of course. Other than perhaps Misfits I can’t think of any other show where the protagonists can meet their time travelling grandfather one week and then fight Zeus the next and, even in the weaker episodes, the two stars have enough charisma to keep things entertaining. It may never hit the consistent heights it did at its very best, and it seems unlikely to ever do so again, but I’ll be sticking with this show until the very end.… Expand
