Everything about him just radiates class. His character is well written and he delivers his lines perfectly , more than perfectly, Every episode has a meander into Existential philosophy or some cultural phenomenon I was unaware of. Very well done. The plots are not so outlandish as the series goes on and it has a slight worrying feel of authenticity. Megan Boone his costar seems miscast and the weakest of the series performers. Much suspension of disbelief is required as every week we bypass any meaningful investigation into the new 'big bad' to get to the shoot outMuch suspension of disbelief is required as every week we bypass any meaningful investigation into the new 'big bad' to get to the shoot out in 40-45 minutes. The big questions, the Fulcrum/global conspiracy and the 'Lizzie/Red" relationship are interesting enough as a show premise but very few real developments or answers have been given the long suffering audience over two seasons. Rather than resolve and building new mysteries, the writers seem content to let the old ones hang and draw them out until the cancellation notice comes in. James Spader works hard, but even he looks a bit bored as we close out season 2. Expand

It has become laughable how the FBI characters can "divine" the plans and motives of the villains and even anticipate their actions on a moments notice.
There always is a scene where they all meet to pronounce their in depth understanding of all of the circumstances surrounding a plot they have just been briefed on by our mystical main character, Red, who is omniscient regarding all matters of global crime.
The writers' expectation that the audience will buy into these fantastic, high speed revelations, tells me that they must be targeting non-thinking adolescents. That is OK, but don't tell me it is good writing. It is juvenile and silly.
My question is: Does anyone in the audience care about these characters? I think not.
