  • Starring: Rob Estes, Orlando Jones, Martin Landau
  • Summary: This gimmicky, San Francisco-set police procedural presents key pieces of evidence to viewers before they are revealed to the on-screen cops investigating the weekly crime.

  1. It doesn't happen very often that halfway into the pilot for a new show, you're already looking forward to subsequent episodes just to find out more about the characters you've glimpsed in the first few minutes.
  2. 60
The Evidence needs more distinctive twists to stand out in the overpopulated crime lineup.

Estes and Jones are appealing, slightly underplaying their buddy shtick. In a galaxy far, far away, their act might click. But in our universe of cop show overload, they're just another team grappling with grisly violence and unrepentant evil.
  4. 38
It demonstrates how a show can be a run-of-the-mill cop drama despite a talented cast and a few interesting twists.
  5. In the end, it's just a case of pouring old crime into new bottles.
  6. The drama has more false frights than a student horror film, and such an uneven and incompatible tone that it's tough to tell which is funnier, the scenes of alleged humor or the scenes of alleged drama.

This basically feels like the fifth best cop drama of the 1978 TV season.

I thought the show had flashes of a Dragnet pace and theme that set it apart from the tired and overutilized CSI or Law & Order approaches!

The Eividence is not a gimmickly proceedural crime drama. Though based in and around a crime occurance, The Evidence is a character story about the people who commit their lives to serving their community, and the humanity involved- not the procedure of the system. Intelligent and powerful. Do not expect this program to be part of the "Police/Crime" genre. Expand

Would love to see "The Evidence" back on the airs. These critics need to let the viewers determine what we want like, and furthermore Rob Estes has a presence on screen and needs to have more of an opportunity to showcase his talents. Expand

Though critics may describe this show as just another cop show, too familiar , nothing we haven't seen on other shows, I say the showhas more to offer , we see two great looking guys not only as partners but best friends as well. We haven't seen that in some time. Plus, the lives of these two characters are interesting, here's one with a brother who got out of prison. The other who 's beautiful wife was murdered and no idea who done the dirty work. It will be intersting to see what happens in the future with Det .Cole and the mystery surrounding the murder of his wife, plus all the drama that will be involved for Rob Este is great with scenes like this.
