While not great, it is heart-tugging in that Notebook kind of way.

The Lost Valentine ultimately succeeds for two reasons: It is an engaging if somewhat convoluted little yarn. And White takes emotional command of the movie.

When Betty White is on screen, the emotions are real, and she's on screen a lot. It's a safe bet that tears will be shed.

Lost Valentine occupies the softest side of the Hallmark universe. Thanks to White, though, it's still worth opening this heart-shaped box, even if you already have a pretty good idea what's inside.

Although cluttered with cliches and predictable moments, Betty White delivers a stunning performance that will leave you in tears by the end of it. She will receive an Emmy nomination and perhaps a win, depending on what HBO has in store for this season. Expand
