  • Starring: Elisabeth Sladen
  • Summary: Doctor Who brings another spinoff into its universe with The Doctor's companion (1973-76), Sarah Jane Smith. The life involving aliens isn't that far behind her as she continues to investigate with the help from three kids.

The uneven Sarah Smith may be a lesser "Who," but it's smarter than most kids' fare. [11 Apr 2008, p.70]

The show offers a satisfying dose of alien-flavored escapism, especially for younger fans of genre fare (Sarah Jane has a few hip and appealing teen companions).
  3. You could resist it, really, as you should be able to resist all television, unless you have been completely assimilated into the matrix. But you'd be missing some sparky fun. Submit.

Broadly aimed at kids, with cheesy monsters and two youthful protagonists joining in the world-saving exploits, the series may be modestly entertaining for the moppet crowd but will test the patience of adults in this dimension or any other.

Great sci-fi fun with likable characters. For all ages - not just for kids!

I live in Canada and I have seen the entire series. The Sarah Jane Adventures is a refreshing return to the best of Doctor Who from the 1970's and is equally appealing to adults and children alike. One of the reasons it is so great, is that Russell T. Davies and his fellow writers are forced to discard the awkward sexuality and pointless violence that is forcibly crow barred into every Torchwood episode. Elisabeth Sladen is fantastic as Sarah Jane Smith and she proves with every episode why she is the most popular companion of all time. The result is classic Doctor Who that no fan should miss. Great show! Expand
  3. A brilliant spin-off to Doctor Who. it's great for children and adults as the plots will keep them interested (just like Doctor Who). In one word: Excellent. Expand
