Just as adept with suspense as slapstick humor, it's both a piss-take of action dramas and a strong action drama in its own right.

I expected to be tired of the joke behind The Wrong Mans within an episode or two. Instead, I found myself engrossed enough in the story of who wanted Sam dead at any particular moment, and why, to keep watching until I made it all the way to the end and could appreciate just how well Baynton, Corden and company stuck the landing.

The many tones should produce whiplash, but the series works because it’s always able to go back to its central idea of a lower-level government employee living in a sleepy small town and getting wrapped up in something bigger than he would ever have anticipated.

Corden and Baynton bring considerable charm to their broadly drawn roles, and have the natural rapport necessary for any odd couple pairing.... Production values are solid, and film and TV director Jim Field Smith opts for a classic style that foregrounds both the action and comedy without any stylistic fuss.

The goings-on feel fresh in the way that kids at play make spy or space stories their own, even as they repeat what TV and the movies have taught them. This is just that with a budget, some deeper experience and the help of Jennifer Saunders, Rebecca Front, Dougray Scott and David Harewood, among interesting others.

A slight, bright, British caper. [16 Dec 2013]

The ambitious series finds a nice balance of slapstick and suspense. You might feel cheated if you're expecting the usual setup and joke, setup and joke format of many American sitcoms, but there are plenty of surprises and laughs.

One of the most flawless examples of comedy and action working seamlessly together. The humour is undeniably British, filled with sarcasm, sharp wit, and some really deep satirisation of mainstream media, governmental employees and the small town culture. It's hilarious though, right from the outset, and maintains it really carefully and cleverly, so that each individual episode feels full and funny of it's own accord, while slowly adding up to a fantastic finale.

Renewed for a second season, this incredibly enjoyable 6 episodes of television couldn't been seen by enough people.

This show caught me off guard because I saw by accident on Hulu. I find a lot programs that are "funny" not so funny at all. Humor is very personal and so I stumbled across this show I was so excited!! I understand it and it speaks my language of humor very well. Needless to say, as far as I am concerned this is a brilliantly, hilariously well written and acted show. I enjoyed every second of each episode and sincerely hungry for more after the last episode. Who would have thought the writers behind the show are the 2 main characters and they are actual friends?! This explains the incredible chemistry that is translated. Cannot wait for season 2. Expand
