The show’s beauty is not in big moments, or exquisitely written scenes (though it has both), it comes in the pauses between, the semicolons and commas that make up the bulk of many lives, but which TV has trouble giving full heft.

The show fades away like a Mari Gras parade drifting out of range. But it's a potent memory. [16 Dec 2013]

A half a loaf is better than none at all. When it's baked by David Simon, Eric Overmyer and George Pelecanos, it's better than most people's full loaf.

It's still the sort of show that makes you reach out to it, rather than reaching out to you--a characteristic that Treme shares with a good many of its characters, a mostly obsessive and intractable bunch who are inclined to monologues about art, work, family, mortality, and the characteristics of the perfect po-boy.

Artistically, it may be an unnecessary appendix, but I'm not complaining. More pie? I will make room somehow.

Occasionally beautiful and emotional, but also bleak and frustrating, Treme certainly hasn’t sullied that reputation. Yet despite the writer’s contention that it’s his best show, for all but those few who savored every note, this rumination on a beleaguered The Big Easy doesn’t belong in the august company of those earlier gems.

This show was very well written. The characters have depth and are complex. The show draws you in so that you feel like these people are your friends and I'm so sad to see this series end. The acting is so well done and every time it watch it I want to move to New Orleans, it's a shame after four short seasons it's ending, although for me it ended much better than some series that just leave you hanging.
