It's smartly written; clinically interesting (Why is Tara this way?), and maybe even a metaphor for the challenges all women face.
As a comedy, it’s surprisingly entertaining....But what ultimately kept me watching, through every screener Showtime provided, was this audacious bit of acting from Collette.

Full of laughs and full of original Drama, season 1 fulfils everything that it claims to be, with Toni Collette putting on the best performance of her career, well deserving of the Emmy!

SEASON 1
It's one of those series with overabundant potential and early hints of provocative brilliance, but it may take a while to truly arrive.
As the show progresses, the stronger moments indicate that Showtime has a more durable commodity here than just the sales pitch for "Sybil: The Series." That's in part because the producers have done an exceptional job of casting beyond the central roles.
While the portrayal of the disorder is gimmicky, the show sustains a particular charm, thanks to solid performances and its honest treatment of the complex relationships in this unconventional family.
Tara has the potential to be a great comedy about identity, but it needs to be less self-conscious about its strangeness.
The series from Academy Award-winning "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody and Steven Spielberg smacks of smugness and self-congratulatory cleverness.
The show is very cleverly written and it succeeds in making you laugh by way of the fantastic one-liners delivered by the characters and not the terrible condition the title character lives with. The acting's top notch and is honest with it's portrayal of it's characters. Great show.

SEASON 1
Thanks to the brilliant writing from screenwriter Diablo Cody and an excellent lead performance from Toni Collette, US of Tara is a stand-out in the world of TV sitcoms. The premise is interesting and the characters are intriguing; I particularly enjoyed seeing the many "alters" of Tara, but the other members of the family are equally as entertaining. The show manages to be supremely hilarious, but it also has a dramatic body to it too that works equally as well. Season 1 is excellent!

I really liked this show. One of the better TV shows in this day and age. It makes you understand D.I.D while making you laugh at some parts. This show has everything, drama, comedy, sad parts and happy parts. Very entertaining and almost addicting. I definitely recommend this.

United States of Tara tem uma grande premissa, e só. O problema que este drama não engraçado, nem triste o que o torna desinteressante apesar de ter em seus créditos o todo poderoso Spilberg.
