V (1983) miniseries - this miniseries was intended by its producer to be an allegory of a foreign power coming to America pretending to be their friends but really having a sinister plan to take over as fascists, implementing martial law, curfews, etc. The TV network thought it would be too intellectual for the American audience so still riding on the Star Wars craze they decided it would be better if the foreign power were space aliens. Overall the miniseries was good but I think the costumes and sets were kind of meh, and I think they needed some montages to show more time passing because I find it hard to believe the Americans would let the aliens implement a fascist society so rapidly. V The final battle (1984) miniseries: The sets and costumes were better in this miniseries they must have had a bigger budget. I remember watching this as a kid and my family and I were all really freaked out by the scene where the teenage human girl is giving birth to the hybrid child. Although, cheesy by today's standards these two miniseries had much better script writing than the remade 2009 series. I also think the special effects in the original two miniseries were much better than in the remade series. 1984 TV Series: This is pretty much just an action TV show with the resistance fighting the aliens and the main villian being Diana, an attractive cunning female. There doesn't seem to be any intellectual message like the original mini-series or the 2009 re-make, but the show is enjoyable to watch. The pacing and the script writing are better than the re-made 2009 series. I've watch 8 episodes so far and my only complaint is that they re-use some of the exact same shuttle craft flight footage from the second miniseries a few times in the TV series, they must have not have had the budget to do more flight scenes. However, the props, costumes and special effects as still good for a 1984 TV show, the lizard faces are well done and I still like the old lizard costumes better than any of the lame CGI from the 2009 re-made series because they look more realistic and detailed since the camera focuses on them longer.
