Amnesia has pretty good graphics (but not top-notch), excellent sound effects, fantastic music by Mikko Tarmia. You can interact with many objects to make the feel more genuine.
You will always feel like someone or something is following you. It will wreck your nerves and when you think you are in safe, something bad will happen. It has a great lovecraftian story (with 3 different endings), nice voice acting and compared to that it was made by a small game developer team, it is better than the most of the AAA horror titles.
The game was release in 2010, but it's still great and it has a Custom Story mode, which allows modders to create their own stories and even total conversion mods.… Expand

The graphics are more pixelated, but there is a filter option to make it nicer. The animations, dynamic lighting, shadows are major improvement while the performance is also way better. It runs perfectly on a way weaker PC than the recommended system.
There are many new items, more enemies and bosses. The new, bigger rooms are a nice addition.
The soundtrack give a different atmosphere and first time it was weird for me, but actually I think it's creepier and darker. Still I miss Danny Barranowsky's classic soundtrack.
The controls are the same, but this time, completely configurable, any kind of gamepads / joysticks can work.
In overall, it's a really great improvement over the really good original game. The new engine, bug fixes, additional contents make it a fantastic game.… Expand

The controls are great and highly customizable, but it's recommended to play it with a good force feedback wheel. The graphics are nice for its age, but nowadays it looks outdated. But the gameplay compensate this. There are things that Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 did better like weather simulation, but in overall both games are really great racing simulator. Both of them has pros and cons.
Don't forget about the great modding ability. Hundreds of mod are freely available on the internet including different F1 seasons, none Formula series mods like WTCC, lot of tracks and other things.
Image Space Incorporated did a fantastic job with the predecessor of rFactor and it's a great thing it comes with 4 complete Formula 1 seasons.
Highly recommended for simulator lovers and even if you don't like this era of Formula 1, mods will make you love the game.… Expand

You can choose from 6 different classes like paladin, priest, ranger, wizard, thief, warlock. I felt the classes a little bit unbalanced, maybe it's just because of my playing style. You can upgrade them by buying stuffs in the dungeons.
It has a campaign mode basically without a plot, you kill thousands of enemies while you walk around dungeons finding switches, gold, secret passages and at the end you fight a boss. The graphics are pretty good and well customizable. It uses the power of modern GPU's by using different kind of shaders, but you can disable them to make the game look even more old-school. The game has online and local coop (shared screen, not split-screen) too which is really fun. However, the single player mode can be boring. My biggest complaint is the level design and enemies. Both of them lacks variety. The levels are large but everything looks the same within one level.
Same tiles everywhere with a minimum amount of variety. It could be done much better. Same with the enemies. On the first level, there are insects, maggots, bats and some kind of plant. These things have different variations with different strength. However, on the next level, different looking enemies, but basically the same abilities. They are just reskinned like the levels. There are some new elements level by level, but nothing really special. They don't feel refreshing.
The game had so much potential wasted. It can be monotonous.
Also it has a survival and defender map.
The fun part begins when you play with friends. Still the same game, but the cooperative nature of the game gives a better feeling to the game and the teamwork with different classes is fun.
Sounds and music is OK, but nothing special.
In conclusion, it's not a bad game, but could be done much better. I give it a 7/10 because of cooperative modes. Without that, it wouldn't be that good.
-Cooperative gameplay is fun!
-Repetitive level design
-Lack of enemy variety
-Repetitive gameplay (find the key, push the buttons, kill thousands of enemies)
-Sounds and music is nothing special
-Somewhat unbalanced classes, some of them are only useful in cooperative game
-Way too simple gameplay mechanics which somewhat works, but feels lacking
I recommend the game if you have friends to play it online or locally on one PC.… Expand

It needs patience and skills. There are unlockable characters, good references to the show, and the level design is pretty much fun!
Fortunately, there are lots of checkpoints and the player starts with high amount of lifes. Also there are lots of secrets for a good replayablity value too. Old school NES style graphics are nice, and the music is also very good. It runs fluidly, and the controls are also right even playing it with a keyboard.
Only drawback is the difficulty, it's almost "NES hard", and mainly it's pricetag. Other then that, it's a highly recommended, well crafted platform game!… Expand

This game was made by The Chinese Room (Dear Esther), not by Frictional Games. The music composer is Jessica Curry, not Mikko Tarmia. I loved Tarmia's work in Amnesia. But I was hoping. "Don't be afraid, it will be all right." Said to myself. I got the game, I played it through in 5 hours and... oh, my heart broke. This was not, what I expected. The story was pretty good and twisty, the graphics are nice (not very modern, similar to The Dark Descent, but stylish and has high variety of areas). The sound effects are top-notch... BUT! Not very scary. The machines, the environmental sounds, the weird noises were not enough to make me feel I play with the first game.
The feeling was not right. The enemies are very easy to avoid, I played it through without dying. The puzzles are simple. There is no inventory (and I didn't really miss it), no sanity-meter, and there is infinite portable light source. The light source was a bad thing. It can be always on. It gave more safety feel. Ah, what a missed opportunity.
The story, the main character, the areas were all right, but they torn out the heart of the "machine". They torn out, what made the first game that good. I'm very disappointed. I wanted to love the game. And I still don't say, it's bad. But it's not scary. It's a good game about madness, exploration, science, swines, and children... But it is short, it is not what I really waited for. I'm frustrated. I really hoped they'll do it right. I really hope, next Amnesia game will be made only by Frictional Games. I want Mikko Tarmia back (well, Jessica Curry was good in her way, but it didn't made that scary, depressing atmosphere, I feel she didn't want to...). I want to feel the fear again. I want them to fix the gears of that machine, the machine, the heart, that made Amnesia The Dark Descent a great experience.
No... I don't have problem with The Chinese Room. But if they make the next Amnesia, yes, I really want a next Amnesia, please, do it right.
There was so much potential in this one, but they unfortunately, missed the chance. It broke my heart...… Expand
