Wolfenstein : The New Order also walks a thin tight rope maintaining a balance that feels like an old school arena shooter while also injecting what one would expect in current gen ala nice visuals, sound, bgm and a whacky story that is over the top But is told well by great voice acting and writing .
I personally feel that machinehead did a fantastic job giving older gamers like myself some old school mechanics such as scarce health regen, ability to carry tons of guns = more style variety , just enough fan service but not so much so where a newcomer would feel lost or overwhelmed.
Subtle but noticeable sound prompts from fallout was a nice touch and the gunplay is solid, very solid.
I do wish there was mp because i want more and to me this speaks volumes in itself because im usually disattatched before im finished playing so called AAA games now a days. I am very happy with Wolfenstein : The New Order and i was expecting the worse and boy what a suprise i got.
Sounds so cliche but Wolfenstein : The New Order has injected fresh air into what has become a very murky fps genre.

I played the other two installments ( will get to that coming into play in a bit ) and enjoyed them so i did have high hopes of a larger scope, grander and smarter version in SS but what i got was a marvelous 21 gbs of eye candy, visually impressive and this being said by an avid pc gamer and enthusiast . The partical effects , lighting and brilliant design paired with a solid framerate is glorious but the fantastic visuals cant pawn the flaws within the gameplay, graphics will only please our eyes but the gameplay is what grasps our gaming soul.
The A.I is bad point blank and this is where the game clashes withit self, looks every bit a next gen game but that quickly feels like a mirage and also breaks that momentum set up by the wonderfully set stage aka visuals only to have god aweful actors aka a.i. There are alot of gamers this gen who prioritize how good it looks first and plays second and with the next gen consoles being all about bigger, faster and stronger we expect a certain standard by way of graphic fidelity and framerate but many of us expect smarter games, a larger scale in terms of innovation but so far its been all about what game holds the graphics crown and if you want a contender second son is it.
The gameplay has not changed a bit it may appear so due to some fancy glitter and shine but ultimately the you will be doing the same generic side missions with the same sense of accomplishment and impact in the story = none. I do appreciate the new shards makeover and the added powers which look great but i was so underwhelmed by the repetitive play, lack of variety via enemies who pretty much are all the same except for bosses and late game the lookalike baddies equip super powers but can you see how it can make repetitive a reminder everytime you face the clone a.i's and to add salt to the wound they make the boy scouts look like the sas, same old a.i you fought in the previous and tbh last gen prototype 2 had more advanced a.i.
Moral system is in place for what power loadout you prefer and whether or not killing civilians and street performers is justified and the ssame for subdue or kill an enemy and its also in place to encourage a 2nd playthrough but what it isnt implemented for is the impact via story, sound familiar? Infamous 2.
The story doesnt suck donkey butt it just feels like its there because it has to be, some of the cutscenes are funny and diolgue well written but forgetable.
This is a much prettier, smoother traversing, vamped up power tree, casual version of infamous 2 which isnt a bad thing. The world of second son looks gorgeous and alive while smoke dashing amongst the roof tops but its when you touchdown to ground level is when the same world feels hollow and bland.
I enjoy what im seeing, i love dashing around and launching skywards via the vents.
The sound of my spray paint can comes out of my controller as i shake it before i tag.
The same can be said whenever i draw power from a smoking car or shard, entering his are while the sound exits my controller. This felt fresh and i enjoy this feature but i just wish they didnt stop there.
basically i feel like been there done that with second son but im still having fun just wish there was more depth, smarter a.i and a smarter game overall.
Second son is an achievement visually and i cant praise SP enough for making one of the best looking console games i ever laid eyes on but the game is underwhelming in respect to what i buy and play games for = good exp and in this gen consoles around 4 to 5 hundred with price of games expected to go up well i expect nothing less than a great exp but regardless of gen it seems settling for less while paying premium has become the trend but with gaming politics aside Second Son delivers on 3 fronts: awesome visuals , free roam and open world environment but it also has action packed moments with great destruction .
I dont hate the game i hate the missed opportunity because this couldve been epic but somewhere down the line they lost focus on innovating the gameplay etc and im guessing graphic fidelity took up most oft he space on the drawing board.

Killzone just like many triologies / series whether games , movies, music, books etc, usually start to lose steam with each installment the exceptions are knowns as the greats, clasics, epic and set a standard/ benchmark that is hard to do unfortunately Killzone doesnt fall in the latter BUT KZ Shadowfall is solid.
campaign has a good tempo and varied missions as well as delivering an open world feel which is a blessing for those like myself who passionately grew to hate linear , generic corridor shooters. Hand holding is almost non existent and when it implement it guerilla cleverly disguised its pressence /existance with the games flow and tempo.
No holy grail of a.i here but the helghast does not tend to kamikazi themselves by running full speed toward your 800 rounds per second. A.I uses cover well and rarely throws grenades at suicidal angles, tbh guerilla did a fine job in terms of the a.i being programmed good enough that it doesnt break the immersion they designed, a.i compliments rather than humilate the gameplay = fun gunplay with very little smh t ala moh warfighter turkey shoot.
Guns feel great and are classic kz creations, not over the top op'd generics but rather somewhat believable futuristic guns, believing in v ideo games always a plus.
campaign is a decent length and the visuals aare top notch nexr gen yummy, story is meh and kz mercs had a better one imo. There is some destructability but not on the level as say BF4. campaign fun but instantly forget me yes but cant say the same for the MP.
Multiplaya is where this game freaking excells !
A very unique , up tempo, tactical, oh so fun engagement in varied maps/locations multiplayer that is like no other. It has its own flavor which is so tasty i rebought the game after trading in for thief, the irony thief robbed my for 63 dollars and credit but thats neither here or there back on topic.
guerilla unlocks all the guns from press start which levels playing field imho but you do upgrade turrets and unlock weapon scopes and mounts but it is needed for the player to feel progression which is better than feeling op'd due to level 76 prestige having a minigun while you enter late in the game per se wielding a but naked ak 47. Bottom line the mp designed with the gamer in mind on every level and i rate the mp as being top notch which can go toe to toe with any fps mp on the market as well as having one of the best hit boxes.
Some are used to chocolate and vanilla and wont venture towards new or different flavors, CoD or BF4 are familiar territories, a comfort zone if you will and thats perfectly respectable / fine especially when its your dime but i will say this = change isnt always a bad thing and on that note KZSF campaign IS ACCEPTABLE AND THE MP IS REFRESHING & DERSERVING of good merit as well as a try but as they say different strokes for different folks well lets just say KZSF MP stroked my cords .
P freakin S Guerilla I DEMAND A HELGHAST CAMPAIGN!
Btw bgm fantastic as always and visually the 2nd best looking game this gen imo close secong to mgsv ground zeroes.

I picked it up at midnight and just finished for now to rest, coffe and write this review basically i got more than 9 hours out of this "2 hour demo". This is not cod = run gun through campaign ala rambo but to be fair its not the complete package but instead its a small chunk of glory, not the main course but absolutely delicious none the less , lets talk ground zeroes.
The main mission is indeed short but it doesnt end at the credits as many portray it actually is when the game begins. Side and extra ops = tons of replay period. You get graded by your stats which scale differently from op to op, S being the best grade. It also tracks all youre stats i.e longest headshot and trials mode pits your perfomance globally.
The game has tweaked combat, stealth and a.i to name a few and thats an achievement considering mgs as a whole. Bottom line this is 110 percent next gen mgs in every conceivable aspect period and is amazingly gorgeous tbh best looking current gen imo. The mechanics feel all so familiar to mgs fans bu polkished and refined in areas i thought couldnt get better. The map is open world and if you play a game like gtv 5 without doing side missions youre only cheating self in terms of overall exp and game life and same can be said here.
My psn pixelprov1 to prove i have the game and to all my fellow mgs fans buy this, rent this, PLAY this. Then send me a msg and call my a liar if im not stating facts. I was looking forward to War Z although i did have my worries of this being a simple cash grab that was trying to jump on Day Z's coat tail of success/popularity and well Day Z and War z being almost identical by name could give one some fear of what i just mentioned and my fears were and are confirmed.
This is nothing more than a cash grab trying to exploit off another games viral success and i say this because the game is inherently broken, controls very clunky and although the game is being sold it is missing key features which are advertised.
The visuals are poor, a simple walk (not jump) over a ridge can deplete all health, hitmarkers are very hit or miss and suspect to say the least, poor effort in the sound dept (although they just added some new bgm but i left before this had happened), poor pc support w/ almost no dif between low and high settings, depth of field is very poor wheter is draw distance or just trying to look from door to next room ( have you looked @ a doorframe lately? looks like one with the house/building), maps have not exceeded 100km as of yet although promised up to 400km, servers are laggy as hell but this can be fixed, night time gameplay = spray paint your led/lcd screen black ( i mean come on !! has hammerhead ever been outside at night?), Day Z zombies make War Z zombies look and feel very generic and lack luster and this isnt saying much ( no offense Day Z), The water is outright ugly and pathetic, spawning needs help, boring enviorment which is very ugly to look at to begin with, plenty of bugs in game which effect gameplay and the list goes on..
I dont care if this was 5 bucks, if a game is bad its bad even if it were free so please stop saying "its just a 15 dollar game"..
Save your money , do not buy and the fact that the devs lie, take no responsability and use banning on forums as an answer to anything which isnt a glory to high heavens this game is awesome type of comment is appauling = tread lightly on forums or you will be banned/blacklisted...

I have read a few great user reviews just want to further support what i feel are facts and toss in a few of my opinions in as well. As you notice there are no reviews by critics on the left side and well thats because E.A did what is not very common and keep this game out of the hands of mainstream critics until the day of release or after = no day 1 reveiws and that was worrysome to me but i was already invested so sit , wait and cross fingers was in full effect. For those looking for innovative or unique single player campaigns which wiill exceed 7 hours (being generous) well look elsewhere if this is the main focus of why you want to buy this game, the game isvery generic in terms of hold handing and the way single player fps missions do for the most part in this gen = Objectives which take little strategic elements and heavily scripted and "been there done that" mode of run gun and shoot guy when and where they tell you = triggers cutscene/next mission. I was very disappointed but not shocked that it would be a linear exp but disappointed none the less because the trend is single player is more of an after thought to what has become a dominant mp pressence in fps genre now-a-days and breaking from that mold is asking too much when this is the safe way for devs and publishers to design and pump out games Godspeed due to lack of content so often th mp will have to fill in the gaps and we will come back to that to see if it can have a good enough formula that will make many fps gamers ok with such a lack luster campaign. but because the industry views us gamers as buying games that are creations of this design as votes in the poll of what sells well they wont change much of anything especially when sometimes games can also have record sales year after year using this trend. I cant take away from the fact that yes the game does look sometimes gorgeous / stunning and no body loves destructable enviorments as much as myself so the explosions, lighting and backdrops can sometimes just make you want to stop for a moment and look around just to take some of it in but there are also moments that will not be so pretty/less detailed and borderline drab city but thankfully those very far and few. Some of the guns are the best i have seen yet but some are "who the fck designed these ones" but the optics almost picture perfect, they sound great and imo as "realistic" as it gets in a video game and the sounds of explosions will rumble on your subwoofer in grande de force so visually and sfx are anove average and sometimes very much so. The gunplay doees feel worthy and to this day i would like to see a heavy "kick" factor w/ high powered sniper rifles or hmg's , althought recoil is present i would like there to be more of it in certain classes of guns which i mentioned which is just my personal taste and can be fixed w/ a patch easily if decided to do so. Here is where it gets tricky. The gunplay and pretty solid gameplay is only as good as the A.I and if the A.I is rather "unaware" than it can have the effect of dumbing down the elements that feel good because whats the sense of having the best compond bow money can buy if one is only going to hunt tree sloths with them. MP, well lets just say that imo the mp does not have enough strengths to forgive the sp and linear maps in a campaign ok i get it but bottlenecked and linear do not belong in mp and only certain fps designers can bring forth a winning formula for the ones that have success w/ linear mp maps. It also dumbs its own brilliance down because the fire teams are elite but the maps leave much to the imagination in respect to utilizing such elite ops tactically , the layout is very unforgiving at times especially for those who want to strategically dominate oppo's rather than bottleneck them or get bottlenecked by. The mode are meh but i love the HR mode. Yes i have small gripes w/ the twitter feed esq H.U.D but im running out of letterd i can use, lol. For sp i suggest renting and for mp well i also suggest the same, try it b4 purchase is a strong recommendation. The game seems to try and climb upwards but only to get kicked down by its own foot. The recipe was there but the ingredients did not come together as good as the menu suggested hence not leaving a sour taste but the craving you sat down with still being present. not a bad game just more of the same so a solid 7… Expand

Played this game since midnight w/ high res pack and it looks pretty, combat so far is very responsive and the open world feels alive.
Driving feels better than any "sandbox" to date.. Tight and physics feel "right".. Driving on the left side of the road did take a few to get used to but im usually driving like a madman anyways BUT during missions hitting / smashing etc will lower the "cop rating" and perfomance.. There is triad rating (bad) and cop (good) although in my personal beliefs its reversed, lol
The voice acting is very good, story has been paced well and plenty of action sequences and varied combat w/o a hiccup in the "momentum" dept, it all feels right and driven.
Upgrades avail and just like the gta's and saints rows there is shopping, cars to steal and own but the "face points" are of triad status meaning the more you obtain the beter gear one will unlock.
I was seriously hoping square enix didnt have United Front slap some generic saints row re-hash w/ a different skin, So not the case.
This game feels of its own, combat feels great and progression feels worth while and side missions i seek rather than bypass.
I must be honest i am milking this one, finding every case and shrine (health and boost unlocks in the form of a prayer box), side mission etc. I fell in love w/ this one since start..
I have to also submit that i am just 3 hours into this game but the more i put in, the more i am delighted.
Please give this a shot, a must for sandbox fans.. truely an open world w/ tons of things to do but doing them in sleeping dogs style. May seem like another sandboxer on the outside but on the inside it truely is of its own and i have no complaints and usually this is rare for me.

I put emphasis on "short" more so than sweet because the games campaign played on the hardest setting lasted about 6 hours (the "33rd" setting , before unlocking the hardest setting "fubar"or :insanity). The campaign consists of 15 short chapters and an epilogue which is hardly worth mentioning , the check points seemed to have no purpose other than the purpose of having them, short chapters.. I will get back into "short" in a bit but as far as the game itself, well it was pretty solid for the most part and i will break it down..
Graphics= were sometimes stunning, no game breaking visuals by way of technical elements but the scenery which this game takes place can be a very pretty one, blending some eye popping colors along w/ nice set pieces such as a huge fish tank palace which even the floor is built w/ glass water and fish were one which were very fun for me to look at but at the same time in this day and age texture blurs of faces , yes faces, have no place in gaming 2012.. Its a slap to the face of the pretty set pieces , designed w/ care just to have blurred out faces, guns etc to be placed right in front of them..So there were some great visuals and then there were some wtf was that visuals but the latter didnt drown out the truely great designs, just made one think what yager was doing with all this extra time, obviously they didnt spend in the campaign dept..
Sound = was/is prob one of the highlights of this game, w/ smart guitar rifts to perfectly executed tunes which fit the theme/mood/chapter.. It was done very well, the lip syncing was decent and voices were top notch.
Gameplay = sometimes a developers can bring some fresh, bold ideas making an exp truly unique but this is where yager dropped the ball, THE SAND , they had something really special but didnt pursue it, just inserted a few scenes which were truly awesome and original and left them on the cutting floor it seems.. 3rd party shooter mechanics are somewhat like mass effect but also uncharted, i believe rolling or jumping is a must when grenades are a big part of the enemies offensive / defensive tactics, especially when the controls can feel very clumsy at times wanting to vault but only to stand out of cover to take an instant bullet of death to the head.. The switch cover/get out of cover, vault will frustrate at some point of the game, taking away the true feeling of "control" over walker..
Story = yes it was decent, but during the loading screens i would notice text which would read "do you feel like a hero" and "how many americans did you kill today" and this was a bit much after seeing it a 6th or 7th time, YES YAGER I GET IT, i am playing the game, i know what is unfolding before me..I dont want to spoil the game but a few of these texts were going a bit far, no not story dialogue, the text while waiting for the screen to load.. Some were far more offensive than what was going on in the game, the story and dialogue were almost original and did have some great dialogue between walker , adams and lugo (his comrades) and the story was a very solid one, but again as i mentioned w/ certain gameplay mechanics , they seemed to drop the ball when the score was clearly in their favor..
MP = multiplayer is very lackluster and almost spot on with the beta i played many many many months ago... unpolished and had potential.
END RESULT, i am tired of paying full price for a game which will last less than a half a day to finish BUT this one is worth playing and beating so rent it or wait until its used, play it beat it and take it back..
I usually dont suggest such practices but im tired of the gaming industries practice of giving us the same old same old but for the price of a months phone bill.. This is worth playing, worth owning it is not but it couldve been.. Yager what have you guys been doing for the past couple years? Down scaling the campaign?,lol..Im not a big fan of being forced to put on highest setting only to get more than a few hours out of the campaign (killlzone 3 guilty as charged).. I tried to do just that after knowing the short length of this campaign but im only fooling myself, the game lasts longer only due to the more continues and its not because its more "challenging" its because more "mystery" bullets are on a string to the ones head.. With a day and age which free games are becoming not just "trendy" but also having more content as well as quality, well i must question buying retail unless its truely a no brainer, nut in this gen you just never know until the game is in your console/p.c.
Its seems Yager had nil faith in sales of spec ops the line, a tad more effort and this would be a solid game.… Expand

I am personally sick and tired of the review process, sometimes i feel like they didnt even play the game (joystiq) and although this had some good scores there were a few that threw me off and then joystiq, so i was close to cancelling my order. From the moment the game started i noticed how pretty everything was, the graphics have been superb (not perfect) up to this point of my time with dogma. I was a bit shocked at how deeply intricate the details/items/customization was designed, i love the freedom to toggle, change, walk, pick up , craft and just about everything which makes me feel"involved" w/ me hero and the progression of.. Capcom nailed a system which is hard to find in console rpgs, the freedom to do, customize and tinker with just about anything and then some.. I want to feel like im dictating my hero and the path/direction of the game rather than feel like im in the passenger seat with the option to do only certain things, not here. The animations and colors are fantastic, whether its the glow of a spell of the change of day to night, its just how i want it to look, when im getting healed i actually enjoy the glow from my pawn or mate casting it upon me, watching balls of glorious fire from a mages staff, the pounding of shield to sword to distract a foe while i use my triple shot arrows soaked with oil only to throw a concoction of fire directly toward where my arrows land, all this feels and looks so right.. the controls are in fact "dynamic", dont be fooled by hack and slash or the demo, there is so much more to the combat system.. yes it is laid out by way of strong attack and light attack but there is secondary , magic, throwing and or holding a foe (or friend) and everything just works together almost seemlessly, im still very taken aback to the reality of what dragons dogma presents to me, capcom.. i am a huge fan of rpgs and i am not one to hold back how i feel and right now i feel like i wouldve made a huge mistake turning this away, i almost did..
graphics are on point, yes there are some glitches but it is easily overlooked by the force of quality in other areas such as gameplay.. The gameplay and presentation is solid, music is nice (nothing groundbreaking) and the controls feel wonderful, voice acting is very good but im not capable to go in dept about the story, as of now i am hurrying my thoughts to get back to the game. The pawn system is awesome. menu inventory and the interface is super user friendly and simple, you can basically design your hero to look however you lease and its very deep in terms of customization.. How about this, rent the game if you are on the fence, please just give it a chance to go in your system.

I have been playing since midnight and its about 7 am and from what i have expd so far, well the game is solid by way of fluid controls, smooth frame rates and decent visuals. The campaign is lacking , the story is just like many others in this genre, catch the bad guy and get the weapons but its not a bad thing, just nothing fresh or groundbreaking.. Tons of weapon mods in the campaign as well as multiplayer, and i love tinkering with the custom pieces .. also during the campaign there are challenges within each mission i.e. shoot 10 guys in prone, well these challenges add replay value as well as neat unlocks. guerilla mode is like a horde mode , waves and co-op. Very nice addition to what is already a game which features co-op for just about anything including campaign. I love the cloaking, stealth approach but sometimes it is a bit too predictable.. Ghost team (a.i) are not controllable as in graw or R6V2 , only a "sync" shot is avail.. I could see how fun campaign missions would be in co-op fashion but as far as ghost team well there is no "connection", they are just there. They are very helpful and do get into correct positions etc but i just wish i could order them to throw a sensor or frag, take point and so on but in any event this game is solid, not much to talk about because it doesnt really do anything groundbreaking and obviously because of the sheer amount of mil shooters its hard to "break through" and do something which hasnt been done already but what recon future soldier does do is keep the 3rd person strategic shooter genre alive,so if you ae worried it would be influenced to morph into a more "commercial" game and be call of dutied well its not and overall its worth playing, i picked up this and dogma and im very happy with them both..
