This game is the most original and inspirational action RPG I've ever played. I love it. It gives you everything. But can be daunting for people new to the game. Please stick with it - it is rewarding and fun. Use the Wikis for it if you get stuck - there are three very good ones. But most importantly don't let yourself be put off by frustration, especially that born of the PvP and being invaded early in the game.
Cheating by PvP'ers who invade is a toxic problem, (And this isn't people who twink gear down to lower levels which although it is insurmountable for new players [and is thus in and of itself frustrating] it isn't actually cheating). The problem is that people can fix their game so they have high resists, high health, high damage, and more. . . http://www.usgamer.net/articles/cheating-more-than-death-in-dark-souls.
The game is great - but if you are just getting into it - just be mindful of the state of Cheat Engine usage - and disable (with firewall rules) GFWL till you get more comfortable with the game and it's mechanics. The sure fire method of enjoying the game is to simply Alt F4 when you are told you are being invaded, (read the Wiki to know when NPCs are invading as you will want to fight them). Then once you are backing up your save games, (called save scumming), and are comfortable with the game, then give PvP a try if you are invaded - But expect to encounter someone who has a frozen health bar, or unlimited stamina, or a weapon that reduces your stats to 25% and teleports you to Anor Londo, (see the article), or some other impossible ability - And expect them every third person who invades.… Expand

I paid for the pre-release and have been happy with what's been delivered. I don't drop a frame on my older i7 with it's ASUS 6950 which is a Radeon card. I also run a newer i5-3570 with a GeForce GTX660 and that obviously also doesn't have an issue. The game itself has lots of atmosphere and the feel of the original Rome game. The map is bigger by way of there being more regions per geographical location. The Graphics are better and look great especially pretty are the trees I think. I believe that the game suffers from enormously high expectations if there had been no expectations then this game would be sitting with a User Score of 8.5-10 at the moment. If you loved Rome you will love this Rome2. Multiplayer with a friend is actually awesome you can share units and help in one another's fights!!!. There are also some great community mods out there at the moment and you can kinda change anything you want about the balance of the game via these (they work in co-operative play too). I love this game!… Expand

Unfortunately the game play is kind of non-existent with you having two types of fight those you can win and those outside your "Level" of progression and you die immediately, (like actually immediately). Poison is a problem. There is no way to dispel it and if you get poisoned the only thing you can do is warp back to the main village and stand by the healers till the poison wears off the healers will heal you every 12 seconds so you don't die. Poison lasts a solid five minutes. So that's five minutes down time every time you get near a spider. A single spider will poison one of your team the moment you get near it even though you will one shot it that's the way it is. If you use ranged attacks to keep your team out of harms way the spiders will re-spawn before you clear them all out. Weapons. Ohh dear. Weapons. They break. Yes they do. Constantly. On Dragon Rock or whatever it is called; you will have broken all your loadouts, (of which you get three), by the time you get from the bottom of the map to the shephard's hut, that's like your shopping trolly breaking by the time you get to the 1st aisle in a supermarket. That is kinda stupid and I'm not sure what they were aiming for here. It doesn't work whatever it was they tried for though because although the spider/poison thing is annoying this flimsy weapon crap is game breaking. I mean I will either find a way to mod this out or I'm not going back to the game because it is lame.… Expand

Some subtle game play adds a lot of options and things to try each playthrough. Been playing with freinds and like dead island the Left 4 dead games god mode borderlands etc they work best with freinds. BUT. Because of the awesome sniper slo time this game works well single player infact before a hardcore co-op session we tend to play single player whilst we get in the groove!
I love this game been playing co-op since Sunday. Not bored of it yet. Also it's very approachable.… Expand

And then there is a Co-op or Single player shooter game where you have to capture all the territories, (like in the first game). Ths second Co-op missions to capture territories bit of the game is what I play with my friends mostly.
The game is nicely balanced. All the weapons I've used so far are functional - with just enough situational specialties in some weapons and a fair few general purpose weapons. There is a bit of an RPG / Development tree - and there are extra agent skills. There is a cover system - with certain weapons able to penetrate weaker cover.
The game looks slick. Motion capture is nice. The character acting in the Single player game is great - especially the CEO who is quite beliveable. Importanly the game has the Syndicate "feel".
The team co-op part of the game is where it really shines IMO. You really do get to work together nicely - the enemy spawns are slightly randomised - we've had no problems replaying the maps and enjoy using difefrent loadouts and tactics.
We are really enjoying this as our FPS at the moment. It is hard - but there is a depth to it esspecially if you can play with like minded people.… Expand
