If you're looking for a "pure action/power fantasy" game, look elsewhere.
This game has a lot more in common with say The Last of Us or more likely a stealth game similar to old Splinter Cells. Ammo is scare, everything is a threat, and much can kill you.
That said, I felt some of the game had a little too much trial and error in spots, but I still felt the game actually forced me to survive, utilizing literally every item in my inventory (something that most games don't do, whereas in other action games, you can kind of just pick a weapon the whole game and stick with it, not likely in this game) to beat bosses and enemies, which I found thrilling.
There were some Dark Souls-esque highs in this game when I literally used my last bullet/arrow/grenade to kill what I though would be an impossible fight. I always felt the game game me just enough to beat what was ahead, but not giving me enough to where I felt godly.
The restricted camera view (aka the super black bars) never bothered me, as I understood that the less you see in a game, the more uncomfortable the player is, and I felt that was a great tactic, forcing me to be aware of my surroundings and actually having to utilize the sound in the game as a tool to figure out what was around the corner or coming at me.
The story is very weak, weird and obscure, with some typical Japanese anime nonsense in there. It makes "sense" to a degree, but I feel it was the weakest part of the game, along with the terrible voice acting.
But, I still had a thoroughly enjoyable time with the game, and couldn't recommend it enough to true survival horror (emphasis on survival) or stealth fans.… Expand

But once you get past the first 2 chapters, this game really opens up and becomes amazing.
Truly amazing set pieces and vistas are within this game, along with some amazing music and a wicked story that doesn't shy from taboo subjects.
Perhaps the best thing about the PC version is the game runs at 60fps as opposed to the 15fps (or that it seemed like) on the 360 version.
I play this with a 360 gamepad hooked up to my PC (as I do with most of my PC games) so I hear mouse/keyboard support is pretty rough, but honestly, that's none of my concern.… Expand

I think the story mode is improved upon off of MK 9's and the tutorial mode that appears when you boot the game up is a great addition to get the mechanics of the game. Practice mode features frame data and info on where attacks will land.
My only complaint is the online. There are tons of modes in there, but once again Netherrealm can't seem to get its netcode working. I've spent tons of time searching for "Ranked Games" only to never find an opponent, and when I do finally find one the connection is so lag filled that none of my inputs or combos ever connect, which is insanely frustrating, especially when trying to dodge some of the spammer zoning character (Deathstroke anyone??).
If they fix the online connection, this game would easily score around a 8 9 for me, but I'm going to give it a 7 for now because the game has a ton of potential to be awesome, I just think the bad connection hinders the experience.… Expand
