It has lots of different characters and stages to unlock and many different things to explore and see. If you are familiar with the series than you already know what the game is about, but this game will definitely bring with it some new fans!
Some negatives include the fact that it is rather difficult to play with four players, as the characters are just too small to see. That, along with a lackluster single player mode keeps the game from earning a 10 from me. Still, a great game and I don't regret getting it!… Expand

The Sims themselves looks great, and behave better than their robotic counterparts of The Sims 3. However, the game mechanics need improvement. The world is much smaller than what fans are used to after playing The Sims 3 for five years. In fact, the worlds in Sims 4 are smaller than even The Sims 2 neighborhoods, and that is unexcusable. Not only are the worlds much smaller, getting to lot requires that the player sit through a (short) loading screen. It really breaks the immersion of a "life simmulator."
The Sims team states that there is "more content" than any previous sims game. I don't believe this to be true. The game is missing even the most basic items (who's idea was it to take out dishwashers?!) and the lack of Create-A-Style, or even a simple color wheel becomes very apparent the second you want to make a sim or build a house.
Building a house in this game is easier than ever before, but the styalized look of the game may turn people off. The doors and windows in the game are either extremely country-style, or very upper class, and there really isn't any inbetween. It's just very strange. The lack of "normal" jobs is very strange as well. This whole game is strange.
What the Sims 4 gets right, it's VERY right. The Sims themselves look and sound awesome. These are easily the best sims we have been able to create. However, we need more than the ability to create awesome sims. The sims need something to do, and this base game provides very little.
6/10 because the game is a good foundation for future expansions, and the game runs very smoothly as of now. It has potential. It's just a shame it wasn't executed in time for the launch day. This game definitely needed more time to be polished. Give it some time and I think it will be great,… Expand

It's been six years since the last expansion was released, and The Sims 4 will be coming out sometime this year, but this is the best simming experience so far. The Sims 3 is good, but very glitchy, very frustrating, and even high-end PC's have difficulty running it. These days most computers (and laptops) will run The Sims 2 and all that comes with it without a problem. The Sims 2 just has a nostalgic feeling about it...and The Sims 3 is just inferior to The Sims 2. Period.… Expand

Many, many hours have been spent by people creating the perfect house and perfect sim family. With all the expansions and stuff packs released now...it's surprising that there are still so many bugs in this game! I have a high end PC so I don't have graphics issues or anything, but I am shocked sims still have path finding issues and that some items simply do not work. For a series that is now 14 years old you'd think those things would have been cleared up quite some time ago. That being said, the game is a load of fun, and the online community is great. Hopefully sims 4 fixes issues that have been persistent since the the first entry in the series.… Expand

I was fascinated that a game that includes weed picking and seashell hunting as part of the regular gameplay, and wondered how and why I found it to be so strangely addicting. Fast forward almost nine years later and here we have the fourth installment in the series. While it doesn't stray far from the Animal Crossing formula it does add that nostalgic feeling that I feel was lost in the second and third games. You're still in debt to Tom Nook, but it feels less forced. You're still doing chores such as killing and weed pulling, but now with projects and things to add to your town instead of it being the same forever. Your main street grows and adds on as you continue to play, and you can't help but feel satisfied as you watch your town flourish into something beautiful and completely your own.
If I had to say something negative about this game (or rather something "less positive") it would have to be the placement of public works projects. You can almost never place them exactly where you want, and symmetry is very hard to create. That being said, I definitely recommend this game to anyone. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok, but those who have liked the game for sure will fall in love with this one. This is the best one since the GameCube, and in many ways it's even better than that.… Expand
