Starcraft is one of those few RTS games that actually understand what the "S" stands for. Units are perfectly balanced and the counters are simply genious. It allows for many different playing styles without giving anyone an advantage. In addition, the super-powerful map editor gives players an unlimited amount of replay value once they make their way to the custom games list. Starcraft is the best RTS game on the market and you'd be a fool to think otherwise.… Expand

If you haven't been living on Jupiter for the past four years, you probably already know that after Call of Duty 4, there have been no major improvements to the Call of Duty series - yet Activision still manages to pump out a new copy of the game every year and charge the full $60 for each one. Call of Duty isn't a bad game, but it's just wrong to re-sell the same game every year like that! And now they've bumped up the map-pack price to $15! If you own any other Call of Duty, Black Ops is nothing new; save your money for something that actually has SOME value. Cooking Mama would probably be a better investment.… Expand

If you can get through the vulgar language, you will find that Bulletstorm is a gem. I was expecting a soft-of first person Gears of War, but I think I actually like Bulletstorm better. It's uncommon to see this much variety in enemies and weapons anymore in shooters. The leash and kick abilities have to be the icing on the cake, though. Figuring out new ways to disembody your enemies never gets old, and this game certainly gives you plenty of options to keep you busy for many hours. It's beautiful, unique, and flat-out fun. I also loved the story! The only reason I took off a point is because it's a game that I would not feel comfortable playing in front of my parents - mature language is frequent with shooters, but Borderlands is on a level all its own.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.6Sep 16, 2011This game combines wonderful graphics and a unique and quality gameplay twist with tried-and-true shooter characteristics. If anyone tellsThis game combines wonderful graphics and a unique and quality gameplay twist with tried-and-true shooter characteristics. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're crazy. The story is actually interesting which - for me, anyway - is a rare thing in starwars games. The real beauty of it is the squad gameplay, though. Players can't storm through this game with their generic blaster-rifle-thing and expect to get far. Instead, they have to take advantage of different parts of the environment. Fights have to be taken on tactfully, which is far more than one can say for most mainstream games. *cough* Call of Duty *cough* Republic Commando has been and will continue to be one of my favorite all time games. It's a shame there aren't more games like it.… Expand

Okay, I am a long time Halo fan. I've read all the books and own all the games. I understand why people would think that ODST should not have come out as a full priced game. It didn't have an independent multiplayer, but is that seriously what we base game quality off of today? Some of the most amazing games I've ever played are single-player and ODST is no exception. The inclusion of Firefight easily evened out the lack of mulitplayer for me. With Reach coming out so soon after, I wouldn't have spent any time on ODSTs mulitplayer anyway.… Expand

At its core, yes, L4D2 is the same but so is every game on the market. Halo is still a shooter, Command and Conquer is still a strategy game, Starcraft is still epic, Episode 3 still isn't released, and Left 4 Dead is still a co-op zombie survival game. Just because Valve didn't go for L4D2: Cooking Mama as their sequel doesn't mean they're ripping us off. This game easily has enough new content to teach Infinity Ward and Treyarch a thing or two.
Valve obviously worked hard to make the original experience much more fun in every aspect and they definitely delivered. The only thing that I would have docked a point for is not having enough maps, but free DLC took care of that. Besides, I had to do something to even out all the people trying to say the game hadn't changed. I wouldn't be surprised if half of them don't even own the game.… Expand
