Average User Score: 2.1Mar 8, 2013Had high hopes, but was disappointed by several things. Obviously the connection issues and launch problems, but those are temporary issues for the most part. Overall I was was most annoyed by limited city size, and what seems like watered down tools. Multi-player isn't my thing so I'm forced to manage several small "cities" to get every thing going, which only makes the annoying load times when switching that much more annoying. I live in a rural area and the occasional drop in connection is expected, losing work to server issues is frustrating. Thankfully I purchased through Amazon and got my refund. The graphics are good and when it works it was ok. Launch issues, limited size, and the likelihood of paying to increase that size through DLC, limited life of the game, and terrible communication by EA are the reason for my rating. I won't complain about the DRM masked as multi-player/server side processing, but that isn't a plus. BTW roughly half the PRO Reviews where done on EA's private server before launch, and polygon lowered it's score.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.2Dec 6, 2012In reality I'd rather rate this 7.5, but it's enjoyable enough that I wont give it just a 7. First I must say the game looks very good on PC, I run it on ultra settings and it is very nice, though the occasional artifact or unusual glare effect or texture loading comes up. For a first person shooter, of which I'm not a big fan, it is very enjoyable, the story is a bit cliche, but it's fun to work your way through it (thus far 15 hours in). The sound is good and the voice acting is pretty good. Though the enemy AI is somewhat bad, I think it's unfair to lower the rating given the scope of the game, and the weakness is less apparent in animal AI (all but 2 of my deaths where from sneaky jungle cats, and a crocodile.)
The flaws in the the game are few, but annoying enough to bring my score down. First the menu system is clearly a port from the counsel and is a bit annoying, having to double click every selection is minor, but it's unusual for me on PC. One thing that bugged me, but once again is somewhat understandable as it is just a game is the head shot I put on a tiger failed to kill it, or even make it break from it's b-line toward me, I find that a bit ridiculous, as heads hots from rifles insta kill enemies personnel. As is usually the case in a game with a lot to do, it's a lot of the same, and the side quests are not varied all that much. Another review touched on this as well, the map has everything marked, so there is no sense of accomplishment from exploring this world, go to a tower and unlock the locations of everything. All you have to do is figure out where the entrance to a cave or temple is.
Over all though the game is great of fun, and the story though not original is entertaining. With good graphics, and voice work, and a ton of options for weapons. I have not played multi-player yet, so that is not reflected in my rating.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.9Nov 18, 2012Improved visuals, combat, and multiplayer are all a plus. But AC3 fails to deliver satisfying characters, or coherent story telling, and goes the way of another trilogy in delivering a horrendously contrived ending, that for some reason tossed to the side plot points of the past, leaving little more than unsatisfying ambiguity. As far as improved controls go (told via in game email that I wont run up random walls again) there are none, and get ready to love some random walls. I hope others are more satisfied with this game than I, as each person is suited to different aspects, but I like a good story, and the poor delivery killed it for me.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.5Aug 31, 2012After a 5 year hiatus from Madden, I downloaded this off PSN. I'm impressed with the improved graphics, and presentation. The commentary isn't robotic, though as with all sports games, it can be a bit repetitive. This year EA has revamped the engine, and added "physics you can feel." THE GOOD: Presentation, and graphical improvements are stellar. Play calling and the play book are the standard fare, but that works for this game. The physics adds to the realism value as well*. Kicking is far more fluid in this version of Madden, and I like this years style. Gone are the rap songs, and modern rock, the music to me never fit with the game. THE BAD: The menus are a bit cumbersome, and you have to do a lot of page flipping to move between them, this is an annoyance for me when it comes to a trade and I have to flip pages to find out the response. EA servers, if you're signed in and they're full or slow it can cause the game to freeze or take a long time to load, I personally avoid signing in for this reason. *The physics, while they have more good than bad, I find it amusing to watch after the play as professional athletes stumble over one another like a pile of drunken toddlers, it also causes some weird plays to develop. OVERALL: I stopped playing Madden because of the gimmicky "improvements" they made every year, and the poor presentation, and graphics. This has overcome those gripes, and is fitting of this generation of hardware. Though physics have good and bad points, I find they add to the overall game. I recommend this to those of you who enjoy the NFL, or, who like me left the franchise, as an opportunity to step back in and have some fun.… Expand
