But of what I have played let me list the things that brought me to see it in poor light:
Writing isn't appealing - Corny, silly and ultimately not very interesting.
Combat was bland - similar to a faster paced Zelda combat with Quick Time Events
Performance Issues on PC - Some areas were oddly unstable, relative to the other parts of the game.
Puzzles were not very satisfying - I just felt like I was going through motions rather than achieving anything or progressing.
Maybe I am not the target market but ultimately I cannot recommend this particular game unless you really love the Legend of Zelda and God of War franchises, as those are most similar to this game, in terms of play style.… Expand

The combat is very fluid, the NPC's are useful fighters and the environments feel believable.
The zombies in this game are less of a "monster" [in that they don't provide loot, or experience] and more of an obstacle. I personally enjoyed this take on zombies more so than the "kill as many zombies as you can!" as approach that other games take.
The game is more about managing your crew and your homestead, all while achieving progress in the story. It takes an old concept and simply changes its focus and achieves great results.… Expand

You know what, that was a cheap death, one more. Okay, just one more.
Sweet, just beat the game.
Oh new game plus? maybe just one more playthrough...
This game is incredibly addictive and challenging. I have seen people who suck terribly still trying to press through this game. Must have for anyone and everyone.… Expand

Like Fallout 3, there is an immense amount to do in this game, arguably more than in the original fallout 3.
The music is great, the quests again are strange and intriguing. It's added many more weapons and a more in-depth system in how you deal with factions of people. If you enjoyed the Fallout 3, then it's hard not to recommend this game. Though definitely worth it if it's your first in the Fallout series.… Expand

The platforming at many stages is downright genius in that it will not only make you think, but often allow you to piece together a platforming solution on the fly. It is an intense experience that is not hindered by difficulty.
It's corny and humorous at times, which gives the game a personality all it's own. The game is downright charming.
This game also does not forget its roots and knows it's fan-base. It has plenty of Easter eggs that pertain to it's inspirations, which will only add more flavor and appeal to those that like this kind of game.

The monsters arent really considered zombies, theyre sort of like these mutated clones. Freaks and experiments gone wrong. Which for me, is one factor that spices up the survivor horror element.
Theres several classes and each class gets a bit better as they level up, decreasing costs of weapons, reload times and eventually starting out with weapons or armor when they spawn.
Other than that, the game is such a winner for its simplicity. Every round starts, you kill, you hit the shop, rinse and repeat.
Throw in holiday zed events in which you are awarded new monster skins and a new level [maybe some weapons and character skins too!] and you are gonna have fun all year round.
Im not saying the game is absolutely amazing for everyone, but i am saying that everyone must try this game! I saw it and dodged it forever, but while playing on the free weekend i was hooked and i have 170+ hours on steam right now. … Expand
Average User Score: 8.6Aug 22, 2013I have mixed feelings about the game, only because it contains the name Bioshock My favorite game of all time. I do believe this is a goodI have mixed feelings about the game, only because it contains the name Bioshock My favorite game of all time. I do believe this is a good game for some people. It is definitely different from the original Bioshock. That would not be a bad thing, if that didn't mean it wasn't the same as many games that came before it. I'll try to break this down in categories.
Game-play: Boring unless you enjoy traditional FPS game-play. You can only hold 2 weapons at once. There are no ammo types and the guns are all pretty standard. The sky hooks can be pretty fun but it feels under utilized. The vigors can be pretty fun, but they aren't really anything you haven't already had with plasmids from the original Bioshock.
Atmosphere and Immersion The game tends to be very atmospheric at times proper background sounds and enchanting music, look and feel of the environment. However many times it breaks the immersion either once you are thrown into a combat sequence or have to deal with the people. The people in the game look and feel incredibly fake, and they don't entirely fit the feelings you get when the game is most atmospheric like the themes are clashing. Whether this is intentional or not, it makes for a less than ideal experience.
Booker as a character, talks too much. I don't know why, but i really hated that Booker talked, ever.
The audio diaries and lore of the world were also rather uninteresting. So much is left unexplained and topics unexplored. There seemed to be lacking significant back-story to the world and the people which over all made it feel less real and therefore less immersive.
Story The story is fairly interesting with your usual twist at the end. It did at times lead me having some actual feelings for Elizabeth, though they were mostly just pity for her situation. I would at least argue the story has enough there to keep you going. Although if this didn't have Bioshock in the name, i don't know if could say the same. I kept expecting more from the story purely based on it's name and it occasionally, if inconsistently, delivered.
Overall the game was inconsistent with a lot of things. It almost feels like this kind of Frankenstein version of a game that was cut and sewn and left with odd scars. It had a lot of great times in the game mixed in with an unfortunate amount of bad ones. I still recommend you get the game yourself because compared to a typical shooter, this game is good. Compared to the original Bioshock however, this game is awful. So don't come in, attempting to re-live your first Bioshock experience.… Expand
