Average User Score: 7.0Apr 2, 2014A history of violence was the first movie ever that i realized that a one and a half hour movie can be painfully long.
i was completely shocked by the overall terrible performances, even from Viggo Mortensen and i was shocked again when i knew that William Hurt was nominated for an academy award for his terrible awkward performance, and what made it worst is the directing.
Yes the directing was terrible coming from the director of Eastern promises. from the first 5 minutes i realized that the movie was slow, and i was kinda hoping for it to be like a cool directorial thingy, but it's not, it kept going like this making the movie painful to watch.
i just seen Eastern promises and i really liked it, Viggo Mortensen character was dark and the story had depth but here, we have a shallow character that just playing awkward to the point that even the connection between family members were awkward and unreal, i mean come on, a teenage boy kiss his mother good morning every day seriously ?
and i'm not against nudity in films but the wife coming out of the bathroom completely naked was pointless and stupid, it was like "hey, we can do this and that" and the sex scene on the stairs was awkward, i genuinely felt that i was watching a movie by M. Night Shyamalan.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.3Mar 20, 2014The happening is a bad movie, with a bad story and terrible performances, And that's just me being generous.
believe it or not, M. Night is one of my favorite directors, yes even after all the terrible movies he's done, because sometimes i get what is he trying to deliver, however i didn't feel anything about this one.
Mark Wahlberg is also one of my favorite actors, so saying this, is really hard for me.
First the story which was dull and stupid, and then the fact that everything about this movie is forced,
forced thriller and forced scenes and the fact that everything "should" be scary and weird. And all that was ok with me.
what gets me is the terrible awful down right insulting performance by Zooey Deschanel, i mean seriously, she couldn't act at all and didn't make sense the entire film.
and you have another bad performance by John Leguizamo and the sad thing is that even Mark Wahlberg performance was bad, watching him squeeze his face to make some impressions is really painful to watch.
after all, this is just a bad movie being bad with no excuse of excising, thank you very much M. Night for making me feel weird about myself watching Mark Wahlberg talking to a plant, Sigh.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.8Feb 18, 2014Children of Men is a beautiful movie, from the first 10 minutes you can notice that it's class A movie with every element, i was astounded by the first explosion because it was so realistic, then i began to notice the environment and i was so impressed by it, it's like they created an entire city to shoot the movie in, that's reminded me of the importance of Cinematography.
and this movie gotta be the most realistic expectation of reality i have ever seen, we all seen movies that pushed as 20 or more years, and it's all about technology, but this movie takes a different direction,
the last 30 minutes for me was a blast, because i haven't seen a realistic representation of a street conflict since Black Hawk Down and that movie was beautiful.
Alfonso Cuarón should be praised for his astonishing director skills and the movie is enjoyable to the max.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.6Feb 7, 2014First off i would like to point out that i mean no disrespect to anyone in this review, because i'm here to review the movie not the events that it based on.
the movie isn't about the united airline 93 until 55 long minutes, the movie is loud and the camera work was down right terrible and that's coming from the director of the wonderful captain Phillips and the Bourne trilogy, and i do realize it should be a movie inside an airplane, but i felt dizzy watching this.
and the movie isn't informative at all, i've seen a documentary called "ZERO An Investigation Into 9-11" that almost as long as this movie and it explained everything that happened that day.
for instance, the whole air traffic noise and buzz was absolutely useless, all what we learned is that the guys were doing their job, the president is the only person who can issue a military strike on possible hijacked airplanes and the military didn't do anything even after the president gave it a GO.
for me i would like to see the details including the fact that every airplane was forced to land immediately and how they closed their air space without any accidents, but i didn't get to see that.
also the movie did so little on characters, it's not memorable at all, and the only reason that it is critically acclaimed is the fact that it remind us of a tragedy, but the movie was terrible and could have been way better than this.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.5Feb 1, 2014It's one of those movies who you just have to watch it and decide for yourself and stop reading reviews about it, because the reviews are mixed and disturbing 50% are good and the other 50% are bad,
and the reason for this is that the movie is so easily to misunderstood. some say it's a predictable plot, some say awful screenplay or awful directing and i say it's an enjoyable movie with a great message behind it.
it's a crime/thriller movie, definitely not the best in the genre but it's good in so many levels that people tends to ignore.
the performances were solid, obviously (Mark,Russell and Zeta-Jones), the screening was beautiful and the music was very good, the plot is average but what do you expect from a movie about Corruption, i mean it might be a predictable but it have a great message behind it.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.9Jan 31, 2014This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before reading this, i want you to know that I've seen Gravity in 2D (Blueray) yes I'm that guy.
Gravity is studding visual masterpiece even in 2D, i will definitely watch it in 3D if i had the chance to,
the Story is a survival story nonetheless and Sandra Bullock acting was over the top,
However i hated George Clooney, i know he suppose to be the fun factor in the movie,
but he was terrible, and I'm talking about the performance and the character,
i mean "I Hope NASA have insurance because there is a lot of damage" seriously?
and he's out there telling stories and making space jokes, that's totally killed it for me,
but I'm not gonna judge the entire movie because of a secondary character but i wish he didn't exist.
The music was beautiful and the whole atmosphere is just remarkable,
but i was disappointment because of the fact that the movie is one hour 20 minutes
but overall a wonderful experience and a must watch movie.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.1Jan 29, 2014The game is the first movie that i watched and didn't know what to think of it, i honestly don't have any idea whether to feel bad, angry or missleaded so you won't find a conclusion here but basically it goes like this:
this review is a giant spoiler, so don't read it if you haven't watched the movie yet, thank you, goodbye.
the title of the movie is a giant spoiler so you shouldn't take the movie seriously but somehow David Fincher was able to force you to believe that the events is real and that's talent ladies and gentlemen whether you like it or not but think about it this way,
if the movie was a game then thinking about it will raise alot questions, flaws and plot mistakes,
for example, if all the pullets that been used in the movie are fake then how can you explain the damages that the pullets makes, rubber pullets is a good answer, but the handgun that been used by Michael Douglas that he took from the private detective was able to flat a tire and that's no rubber pullets.
also they locked him up with taxi cap and throw him in the sea, what if he couldn't swim or didn't remember that he had the handle to open the car window, he'd be dead.
and they drugged him and put him inside a coffin in Mexico city, what if he was robbed and killed in his way to the united states ? they wouldn't be able to do anything about it,
and last what if he jumped 5 feet to the right, he would be dead, because it's totally stupid that he jumped right into that mark.
and i can go on and on and on about it, but you get my point, it's a movie that have more plot mistakes than The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel combined.
but my average rating goes for three reasons, the movie isn't boring at all, it actually interesting and keep you guessing and intense the entire time,
and two David Fincher force you to believe that it's real even though he spoiled it earlier,
and three because i want to recommend to everyone, but don't over think about it like i did, because i have no life, just kidding, enjoy it.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2Jan 28, 2014Revolutionary Road is a movie with linear non-functional boring story with over the top performances.
the movie is empty and unwatchable if weren't for Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet performances,
i kept asking myself, should i feel something here, which is a question i shouldn't have to ask myself if the movie was engaging, and coming for the director of American Beauty is really a let down.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.3Jan 27, 2014Jack Reacher is a waste of two hours and 10 minutes, it might look like a standard shooting gallery but it managed to be even worse than that given the fact that the movie is slow, which is a surprise cause these type of movies tends to be fast, plot-less and stupid. this one is slow,plot-less and stupid.
i mean it's not a crime movie, diffidently not an action movie and most importantly it's not an enjoyable movie.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.1Jan 26, 2014This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. these ratings baffle me all the time, it's like i'm watching a different movie,
and here i say it, the movie wasn't that good, twist endings and mystery are my favorite genre so i know what i'm talking about.
yeah it's a movie about time travel but it's doesn't offer a new idea or a new sight or objective, which means it doesn't use the time travel to it's benefit, and the movie doesn't look good, the screen was dark, it was actually too dark that i've seen movies done in the 80's that's better than this.
yeah the movie keep you guessing and deciphering and offers a questionable ending, i get it ok,
but don't overrated any movie because it left you baffled, think about this way, it's not enjoyable, didn't bring a new thing to the table and more importantly the screen was terrible.… Expand
