The gameFor a more detailed review, find "LordMalloc's" review but to summarize, the game's concept has potential but it was poorly executed. The game does a poor job explaining itself. It is as if they failed to test the game with actual gamers before releasing it. Anyone testing their "finished" product would realize that a lot of the concepts are poorly explained. Explaining the concept is very important for a game that is basically a new genre.… Expand

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is what Assassin's Creed should be. There is nothing like going through an army of Orcs and taking control of their general. The combat is fluent and never gets old. The game was a bundle of fun!!!! Until the last 30 minutes.
The final few missions combine to create the worst ending of any finite game i've ever played. The "boss fights" were awful and the game's obvious goal was to set up for a sequel. I can't go into too much detail without spoiling it but this game's bread and butter was the meat of the game. The combat and the engine. Its almost as if the developers were 2 months away from completing the game and their project manager told them they had to complete the rest of the game in 43 minutes. Shame on them for that ending.… Expand

Get this out of here. Ryse:SoR is a pretty game when the framerate holds up. The combat is interesting(for the first 30 minutes). The game is linear and the story is kind of rediculous. The game ends without explaining a lot of unnecessary mystical stuff. This is one of those games where you could close your eyes, hold up on your controller and get to the next area of the game so you can fulfill the required tedious combat minigames.
Oh.. Combat is just a bunch of minigames and button pressing. Booo!!! DIdn't the developers look at any good games before they made those? It is ported poorly as well. Like i said, the frame rate doesn't hold up. I guess adjusting the engine for PC took too long so they had to release it as-is.… Expand

This game is what all tactical games should strive to be. The game didn't really suck me in at the beginning because I felt some of the english voice acting was bad and the animations were cheesy. I pressed start after enduring it for a while and couldn't find the option to change the language to japanese. I put the game down and didn't pick it up again for a couple weeks. I then realized that you can change the language from the main menu. This changes everything!
The combat is brilliant and it keeps you involved. The campaign is nice and long. The game has the perfect amount of depth and simplicity. It is the type of game that anyone can catch on to almost immediately but can only be mastered by few. The price is more than fair. I've gotten way more value out of this game than i have with other games that i've paid $50 - $60 for.
The story kept me entertained. I cared about the characters. I laughed. I wanted to know what happens next like a good book or an episode of Breaking Bad. I can't imagine any intelligent person not falling in love with this game. I understand this is a port but I don't have a PS3 or a PSP so this was my introduction to the series. Go Sega! I'll keep supporting them if they keep producing quality games. PC's have infinitely more power than consoles so it hurts when ports are released on the PC unpolished. This game has to be flawlessly ported because I see no issues.
I would honestly give it a 9.5/10 if that were possible but I feel strongly that a 9/10 would be blasphemy. Buy this game! You wont miss the $20 unless you're a dumb person. I would recommend using the Japanese voice overs instead of english. The english voice overs were extremely corny and don't always translate in a way that gets the point across strongly.… Expand

I didn't leave a review then because I felt that would be petty.
Once i finally got in, the game was clunky and boring. Blah, blah, blah, blah.. Something. Something. Something dragons. I have never been so disinterested in an RPG so fast. It was quite impressive how little i cared about whatever EA was trying to portray with their "story". The combat is "okay", but i'm not willing to endure the pointless filler missions to have combat. The writing was also "okay" but unfortunately, it also required that i endure more filler.
R.I.P Dragon Age series. EA is the devil. I remember when I was young and EA was an awesome company that made awesome games. Their first act of evil was monopolizing NFL games so that they could produce piles of crap at a steady rate of once a year at the gamers' expense. Everything that they do is an attempt to maximize their profits. They fail to realize, if you take pride in your product and make sure that your quality is priority, the profits will take care of themselves.
EA sure knows how to kill the things we love in a legal fashion. They should spend less money paying off critics to pretend like their game is good and more money on quality control and experienced developers. I honestly feel like a 2/10 is generous. All we can do now is hope that the project managers and executives at EA die in an awful car crash in which they don't succumb to the initial impact but succumb to the fire.… Expand

The game is unique. I had tons of fun for a while. My only issue with the game is that I wish they put a little more work into it. The buildings I could raid/explore were limited. Having to feed your party gets tedious. They might as well have made the gamer have to relieve the survivor's bladders. Waiting for the days to end was tedious. Having to start with three random party members was unnecessary as it just causes the gamer to have to create constant new games until they get the party they desired.
In short. The game is fun but it felt kind of beta-ish. The devs need to add more options/items/locations. I'd honestly value this game at $10 - $15 the way it currently stands.… Expand

I will keep this short. The voice acting is awful. The character movements are poor. The interface is 100% copy + pasted from other Telltale games. The story is not interesting in the slightest. The action scenes that require timed button mashes are tedious.
I played Tales from the Borderlands last week and it was much better than this. This game is a lazy attempt by HBO to gain more money using Game of Throne's name. Its like watching an alternate Game of Thrones story created by people who had nothing to do with the show. Animated (poorly). In all fairness, I did laugh 3 or 4 times but that isn't enough to forgive this unethical practice. This game is enough to make me wish for Telltale's failure.
