This movie was atrocious. Writing to me is key to a movie. It goes beyond special effects and which actors are in a movie. You had 3 writers for this movie and the best thing they could do is do a James Cameron, " Avatar" movie. That's all it was with the apes as the Navi. Also some scenes look so identical to Avatar and Lord of the Rings.
As for the way they portrayed the apes well I didn't believe them. These people should have watched some nature programs on how apes act towards each other, when they see humans, and what they eat. Everything was so unrealistic especially since they had 10 years to forget about humans. They learned how to write English, speak English and sign language. Really? I can keep going.
I think peoples expectations were too high to really say anything bad about this movie since there has not been anything worth watching all year. I think all the CG this summer rotted there brains to actually make any sense on the story. I will say this though, I think 12 monkeys with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt serves as a better sequel than this.… Expand

The problems begin by adding Professor X in the future when in xmen 3 he dies. Yeah I know he shows up in another body in the after credits, but that body is not the same. He should have just showed up at the end with everyone else. My next problem is shoehorning wolverine into this movie. It was annoying in Xmen first class and its even more annoying making him the protagonist in this movie. But I understand he had to be there to erase the mistakes of those 5 movies which were Xmen1-3 and the 2 wolverine movies. I loved this idea. But this would have worked better if there was no wolverine.
In the comic kitty pride was the one who went back in time. But it would not have worked in this film because she was not born yet. This would have been a great way to introduce quicksilver using his speed to go back in time...Wait...Where have I seen that before? Anyway why not introduce a new mutant that can time travel or send bishop back like she was doing to at the beginning of the movie.
Now comes the part with quicksilver. Why don't we see Emma frost or Scarlet witch and since its 10 years later why doesn't quicksilver look like a 9 year old?
The other thing they forgot to mention is Nightcrawlers birth and Azazel being the father. Then there's the beast transformation that never was explained. Lastly Magneto using train rails to control the Sentinels in which they still disobey him.
I wish they address some of these matters in the next movie. So for now its a good sequel to First class.… Expand

There is a thing called, "suspense" that a lot of movies lack nowadays. I loved the teasing because that's when you know they got you hooked. Many monster movie franchises in the past pulled this off effectively and no one complained about it. Let’s start off with Alien and the way that teases us little by little on what it looks like as it kills people one by one. The next one is Predator. This one is completely camouflaged killing squad members until Arnold is the only one left to finally show himself. Just look at movies like Jaws, Dragonslayer, Terminator, The hidden, Jurassic Park, The abyss and many others. This is a great formula because it keeps you in anticipation. Pacific Rim was pure garbage from beginning to end. I'm glad this movie didn't follow that path because then there’s nothing for you to look forward to. Children probably liked Pacific Rim just like another movie called Transformers. These are movies that failed to have an on par story. All they are is multimillion dollar toy commercials from beginning to end in which by the time the movie is over you wind up with a migraine. There’s no suspense or WOW moment unlike what the new Godzilla movie accomplished. There are enough Godzilla WOW moments and Trailer scenes that were newly edited which no one talks about. This made every Godzilla scene new to me. Also I will say that I have seen every Godzilla movie and I will say that this one had more screen time than each of those other ones. Now with talks of a sequel they will probably add more fight scenes but they have to stick to this formula.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.5Jul 20, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I will say this. Guillermo Del Toro is one of my top 5 movie directors. I own Blade 2, Hellboy 1 and 2, Pans Labyrinth, The orphanage and so on. I was really looking forward to this movie for over a year and was wishing it would deliver but all it did was fail. EPICALLY. The score I gave were for visuals. Whoever says this movie is great they are the reason movies keep getting made. I left the movie theater angry. This has to be the worst movie written and edited of all time. How would anyone release this $200 million dollar cluster fudge.
Writing is the key to success. The plot of the movie is that a crack opens that port's monsters from another dimension to our world. So its one crack. So answer this why didn't they try to nuke the thing from the beginning to see if it fails before creating the jaegars and finding out at the end that nuking it will fail. Then after creating the Jaegars which were like 30 of them. Why not have them on standby near the stupid crack. The reason being its proven that only one appears at a time. They track them as they appear. Correct. Imagine how much repair they will save if all 30 ganked this one Kaiju as he was entering our world. Why the hell would you split up the Jaegars around the world if its only one crack. Even if they decide to send 10 kaijus they will still fail. But now they decide to do this strategy when only 4 Jaegers are left.
Next when driving the Jaegers why is there a spinning blade grinder under these guys? What happens if the accidentally fall in? Wait that actually almost happened. Bad design don't you think. Next we have the guy mind meld with a kaiju brain. Now why would they do this. Oh because once the 2 kaijus defeat the 3 Jaegars in less than a minute of movie time they need a diversion for one of the kaijus to leave. Why didn't both Kaijus leave after the scientist guy? So that Dipsey Stranger can intervene and take them out separately. Then something stupid happens. The Gorilla kaiju that's left over doesn't destroy the last non functioning Jaegar. He just walks around it and punches it in the head. Then these 2 guys get out and blind him with a flare. Seriously.
Now we get to the kaijus defeat. Why is the Kaiju pregnant? Its proven that they are all clones. WHY? Thats easy to fix the plot hole in the scientist guy to mind meld with the baby kaiju who has no recollection of whats going on in the other dimension. WTF. Really? The thing is in an egg and it has memories. Its like saying that if a woman is pregnant and the baby is delivered I can mind meld with it and it can show me where he came from heaven or HELL. "Because this is what this movie is".
Finally the part that I screamed at in the Theater. If you read this you know it was me. What was the purpose of having a stick fight training scene if the damn robots cannot use weapons? I didn't see them us any handheld weapons in which this would benefit them. Oh wait the sword at the end against the flying Kaiju. This is where I screamed, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME". They had this weapon the whole time and never used it. WHY? Oh that's right. If they used it in the beginning the brother wouldn't die and the other brother would not meet the Japanese girl in which they wind up have a interracial love interest. THAT DOESN'T WORK. USE THE SWORD. Then later on create kaijus that are smarter in disabling this technique.
OK forget the sword. how about this. How many times did the jaegers had these kaijus by the neck and never once bothered to crush it with the robotic power? I lost count. As for the flying sucker hell my hands were free. Why not crush its neck with my bare robotic hands.
Then the movie finally ends just like independence day with the stupid alien looking at the Jaeger explodinah this movie.… Expand

This was by far the worst marvel movie I have seen to date. The problem with this movie was not the actors. They did great. The Mandarin plot I thought was going to be the part of the movie that was going to make me angry but it didn't really. The way he was used made sense during the real events of our world today. I mean who would be afraid of a guy in a dress with 10 rings doing magic in which one repulser blast will eradicate him instantly. That's why we have Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet for that.
The problem with the movie was with the Extremis, the lack of Iron Man action and the finale of the movie. I really thought this movie would really help my distaste of Iron man 2 which I really didn't like, but instead it did the opposite.
Lets begin with the Extremis. For starters every time I see one of these guys pop up I cringe and wait for something stupidly IMPOSSIBLE to happen.
Next is the constant Tony in the Iron man suit and out of the suit. He does this so much it makes me dizzy. Like he's advertising to the audience that he can do this. I've seen Tony in the suit like over 5 times and does nothing while wearing it besides walk down stairs, fall into the ocean, escape the ocean, force pushes it for pepper to put it on, force removes it from her to put it on himself, force pushes it to the villain to try it on. Hopscotches from one suit to the next just to fly. Then see other people use these suits with no training whatsoever. At this point I was just waiting for the kid to put on the suit to save Tony at one point.
Lastly the finale. Oh boy. At this point of the movie I want it to end already. Then we get the scene from the trailer where all the different Iron Man Marks show up. I knew that when they added a kid to this film it will lead to what I was afraid of. Chris O'Donnell said it best that when doing Batman and Robin it was like doing a Toy Commercial. That's exactly what it was. You see Tony using different suits made of METAL to be destroyed by humans which are made of FLESH AND BONE every time he puts one on. I yelled, "A what the Fudge" in a packed theater when this happened. Seriously. Then something even worst happens. He self destructs all his 42 suits. Why would he do this? Did he consider thinking about using these suits in case another threat from space happened again? Gee these suits will come in handy right? There was no answer to it. By the time I started writing this part it came to me and that is by the time Iron man 4 or Avengers 2 is released he somehow made new models of suits which can be sold as toys. BRAVO...
I believe if you remove all the stuff I have problems with it would have been a better movie. Making a movie really doesn't mean to make it bigger every time. Just make it simple and to the point. When you add to many elements you lose the audience and it becomes unwatchable. There has not been a successful comic book Trilogy yet and I don't think there ever will be. Just more reboots because people messed up the movies to recreate new ones. I really don't understand how any screws up a comic book movie when all the source material is already done for you in the comic books. I think making Iron man 3 was a big mistake as is The next Thor and Captain America. I believe that they should have used all these resources to create more Avengers movies. The spent all this time trying to get these characters together to just split them up again was a bad idea which is going to have bad repercussions down the road. The time will come when some of these actors don't want to reprise there roles anymore and this is going to make a lot of people and fans really upset. Upset because of the greed of milking these movies as a form of business instead of a form of art is going to destroy it.… Expand

I wasn't bored, I cared about the characters and what they were going through. Every actor played there parts perfectly. It wasn't like avengers which was a 2 hour and 30 minute toy commercial and completely forgot about what the story was about and character growth. Average User Score: 6.5Jun 9, 2012This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Simple Phenomenal. I have been waiting for this movie for a loong time. I avoided all trailers and clips so I don't spoil anything from this movie made by one of my best directors Ridley Scott. People probably expected more mostly because they ruined most of it by doing what I didn't do. The problem is that people don't know that there's going to be a sequel called, "Paradise". The other is that people don't like to think and use there brain on what happened and why? It has to be the first movie in along time that actually made me talk about all the theories of it. I have my own theories but I'll explain it later. I have to say this has to be on of the best Sci-Fi movies I have seen since Sunshine. Sci-fi movies are not popular in the movie industry because no one wants to understand it. I love it. I will keep it short. The creators(space Jockeys) came to earth to create us. Then use as a weapon to probably fight a war or invasion that they are involved in. Something goes wrong with there experiment and they have to eliminate some of there own and try to escape. When the crew arrives at there world which is not LV 426 from the alien movie the human crew enters a closed quarters and some worms appear from the soil that evolve later on from the contents of the canisters. The space jockey ship in this movie is not the one that crash landed on LV 426 because Weyland industries knew the location of this world so they would have sent more people to this planet again. Plus the crew from the Nostromo would have bumped into the canisters if this was that ship which its not. If you watch Alien even the planet and system they enter is completely different.
I think the sequel will shine on all these questions which I can't wait. Think about this.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.9May 6, 2012This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All I can say about this movie is that it was one of best marvel movies so far. The movie was entertaining but the major problem is the story and plot. There has been this build up for 5 years throughout 5 movies in which the main plot had to do with the Tesseract. So as soon as the Avengers movie starts within the first 10-15 minutes the whole plot is destroyed by bad writing and nonsense.
First we have a Evil villain tell Loki to retrieve this cube for him. So he is given a staff with the same powers of that cube that opens a portal right to it. Now this staff idea ruins all logic in all the the movies. If these aliens were looking for this cube in the first place why didn't they retrieve it using this staff along time ago. So after Loki retrieves the cube he doesn't immediately leave but instead he wastes time getting captured for no apparent reason to have his slaves build a machine to create a huge portal to bring an army to destroy Earth. What? That doesn't make sense. Loki was threaten that once he got the cube to return it to the aliens. Everything was backwards.
What should have happened was this.
1)The alien gave Loki an army to invade Earth and retrieve the Terrasect
2)Thor knowing this army is heading towards Earth warns S.H.I.E.L.D
3)S.H.I.E.L.D begins to gather the rest of the team
4)The aliens begin there attack on Earth as a distraction so Loki can retrieve the cube
5)Loki retrieve the Cube but he and his army is defeated by the Avengers
There should have been no portals involved in this movie period. Also the flying aircraft carrier was pointless as well. The damn thing served a better purpose in the water instead of the air. All it took was one arrow to put this thing out of commission.… Expand
