Average User Score: 5.7Jun 25, 2014Here's my verdict after 3+ months: PvE: -Bugs -Glitches -Broken Passives -Failing Skills -Broken Quests -Imbalanced -Rollbacks
-Broken Fwd Camps, Doors, Repair Kits, Compass, etc.
The game may be pretty... but it is NOT worth a sub. It should still be in beta testing. Every patch they put out breaks more things than it fixes, lol, so the game is seriously getting worse.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.3Jan 28, 2014This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is supposed to be a turn-based tactical RPG... only there's very little RPG, and the random number generation masquerading as combat mechanics destroy any illusion of tactics having meaning.
Case and point: at the first hub, after escaping the dungeon, your character's suggest purchasing some goods from the local merchants... "Hey, good idea! I think I will"... ONLY, I have very little money. I realise that if I sell all my characters' torches, I'll be able to afford a couple daggers... thinking I'm equipping them with better weapons than torches. Nope. The next battle I face involves skeletons who don't take ANY damage from piercing weapons. ROFL Needless to say, my Mage certainly wasn't going to be able to take them all on himself...
The ENTIRE game is a series of events similar to that.
Upgrade the wrong character stats? Start over/reload. Buy the wrong equipment? Start over/reload. Run into set of rules the game neglected to even hint were possible? Too bad, start over/reload.
No, thank you.
Most of the character upgrades are useless and will ultimately lead to death. Most of the equipment drops are useless. Most attempts at hitting an enemy are useless. The story is poor and the game is on rails.
Like others have previously stated: there are more tactics involved in Rock, Paper, Scissors than Blackguard. And what kills the game for me, as I can overlook most of the rest, is the realisation that there is little to NO skill involved in this game at all... and very little player control over battle outcomes.
..What you CAN control, however, is whether you choose to play it or not... and I won't.… Expand
Average User Score: 5.2Oct 31, 2013I must be stupid! (It'd be rude of you to agree). I promised myself I wouldn't buy an FM until mid-cycle EVER AGAIN... Why? Because FM2013 was broken for 6 full months after release. I was banned several times from SI's draconian forums for politely asking how releasing poor product was good business...
Well, eventually FM2013 became playable, and enjoyable, so silly me got all excited and decided to go against my better judgement and pre-purchase FM2014... Guess what? It's broken. It was broken during "beta"... and now it's, somehow, even MORE broken for it's initial release. It's unplayable.
Personally, I'm tired of being abused by game companies... so I headed over to SI's forum and responded under the "full release feedback" sub-section with one word: "BROKEN". Eh voila! Lifetime ban!
Not only are SI incapable of bug testing... they refuse to tolerate valid, polite, and perfectly understandable customer feedback.
This is the last FM I buy. No, really. … Expand
Average User Score: 6.7Mar 30, 2013This game has been a disappointing mess from day one. From it's initial release as a beta masquerading as finished product to the recent update which just broke more things. One shouldn't have to buy unfinished products, and be forced to wait to have it patched into playability, only to have the broken parts of the code shifted to a new place with every patch. THIS GAME IS BROKEN. DO NOT BUY IT.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.1Mar 19, 2013This game wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. Uninspired level design, a poor story, and even poorer character development ..And an ending I can't watch because it crashes EVERY time I try to fight the end boss.
Multiple people, across multiple platforms, have had this issue... without a single word from the Publishers or Devs. It's too prevalent an issue for me to believe that EA or Crytek were oblivious to this game breaker... yet they shipped it anyway.… Expand
Average User Score: 4.9Dec 6, 2012The campaign is 6.5/10.
The Multiplayer is - 6.5/10.
Spawn killing, lag switching, team killing, boosting, aimbots (yes, there are, deniers), lag so horrendous that even the best connection runs 1-2 seconds behind everyone else.
You'd think that a company that just made ONE BILLION DOLLARS in 15 days off of this, PLUS the BILLIONS off of the last several, that they'd care enough to fix it: NOPE, they already have your money.

Average User Score: 7.7Jun 23, 2011What has happened to Sid Meier? Has he lost all self-respect? First Revolutions and now this piece of crappola! Next he'll be putting out a Facebook version of Civ, for F's sake! Oh, wait... What's that!? HE IS!?! Sid, 2K, Firaxis... some or all of the former are to blame for the decimation of this storied franchise. I've played this series since Numero Uno, spent thousands of hours on every subsequent iteration, but can not bring myself to complete a SINGLE game of Civ V! They dumbed down all of the strategy elements that make a Civ game a F'N CIV GAME!!! Gotta get that casual/console market interested. Apparently, Core Fans just aren't good enough any more... Who cares if I've helped pave the way for you! Just another in a long line of greed induced SELLOUTS! F**K YOU, YOU GREEDY BASTARDOS!!!… Expand
