Average User Score: 7.2Apr 4, 2013What a disappointment this turned out to be, im not going to waste much time with this review as I personally feel Ive wasted enough time playing the game. The game idea its self had the potential to be something really great, ultimately it looks so outdated against current titles, I found it repetitive, I was less intrested in it the longer I forced myself to play it in the hope it got better, the voice acting is cheap, the Ai are badly scripted and restricted for a game that was 5yrs in development. The graphics are rough as hell, and in particular I run a 30meg tinterweb connection and the game has lost at numerous points, sounds and texturing, framerates slow to freezing point at times, for a game that had been in devlopment since 2008 I find this a total waste of time and cash and best avoided, the points ive made above were more than enough for me to decide after 18hrs of play this will be getting traded in at the first possible opportunity. For much greater alternatives try Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3, Borderlands 1 & 2 and the Gear of War series. Granted its an MMO title but whats the point if console tech is underpowered this is a PC title but I doubt that would change how bad this game really turned out to be. Sorry folks.......… Expand
Average User Score: 8.3Oct 30, 2012A NICE DAY OFF WORK!
My title of the review says it all. People should take Forza Horizon for what its ment to be... FUN!
It really is like a nice day off work, after a hard shift at (WORK) on Forza 4, between trying to knock 100th of a second off a lap time, or changing a setup on a car because the rebound on your rear suspension is too stiff, that coupled with the attack setting on the rear diff, its nice to play a racing game and not have to think too much or too hard and just relax. Forza Horizon (THE DAY OFF WORK) does just that....
Fair enough some people might think the career is easy, turn the setting to insane and all driver aids off, see how easy it is now.
People say "Its too arcadey"... it aint meant to be a like for like simulation. If it was it would just be Forza 4.5 or 5.
People say its a "Dirt Clone" or a "Burnout Clone", does that not make every "Non simulation racing" game a clone of something? Or games in general just clones of something.
Its rewarding, easy enough to get the hang of, but difficult to master. And most of all its gorgeously good looking fun to play, solo or online.
My only stipulation is the music is abit chedder'ish. In saying that none of the music i would listen to anyway, but for all intents and purposes, it provides atmosphere and energy to an already high energy game.
If you love cars, driving them fast, the idea of doing a 10 mile sprint down a motorway/highway in a Ferrari F50 or something similar or not as the case may be, the Forza Brand, but want a little something something like Forza 4 that doesnt take itself too serious. Forza Horizon could be the very thing for you.
It aint perfect, nothing is, but for all the charm and fun to be seen and had, you'll forget about that and just enjoy the ride!… Expand
Average User Score: 8.1Oct 14, 2011Forza 4..... I was waiting for it like a little kid waiting for it like Christmas morning.
Did I feel like the little kid on Christmas morning?
MOST DEFINITELY NOT! Forza 4 in my oppinion proved to be another over hyped piece of nonsense.
I feel the way I do because after 4 titles in the series I'd expect to see major improvements to many aspects of the game, yet since Forza 2, Forza 4 feels more numb and repetitve that Forza 3 did. Graphically theres some improvement ( when in a race). The cars when looked at in garage look amazing fair enough. Autovista is total SH*TE, if i want to look inside a Ferrari, Merc etc i'd just look on the internet for a better example of how the interior looks, what the engines specs are.. etc etc. Its a good idea but pointless given the fact you are limited to a predetermined selection of 20 something cars to look at, all of which are boring.
The car manufacturers rosters are the worst they have ever been, 60% of the cars are American and about 47% of the American cars are muscle cars..... What didnt Turn 10 call it Forza American 4 or Forza Muscle 4. Turn 10 hardly bothered to expand the British, Japanese, Spanish, French or any other nations car rosters....bar the Americans and Ferrari's. What happened to Turn 10 introducing more entry level hot hatches, sport wagons, sport saloons etc etc. Instead we got a whacking of over priced hyper and exotic cars..... Who cares.... if I want to drive a Ferrari or Lambo i'll book a 48 hour test drive.
The car modifications and tuning options are near the same as Forza 3, perhaps even less in some cases. The "simulation" aspect is a poor effort. What planet are Turn 10 on??? Is it always daylight and dry where they come from? The work Turn 10 did with Pirelli is near invisible to the point the tyre wear mechanics are Forza 3 all over again. Pirelli must have seen Turn 10 coming and thought "oh we can make some money from these mugs" The addition of a handful of new tracks is another disappointment. The sound effects are not bad, but for example telling a 2.0ltr V-Tec and a 2.5ltr flat 4 boxer engine apart is near impossible,as are many engines, its all very generic. The music is still garbage in the menus and in race mode, thank god I could turn it down. Online is well... different but the same. Clans??? who cares... if i want to race with my pals i will, im not representing nobody when i drive except me. Its me versus the opposition. Not a clan vs a clan. (CALL OF DUTY ANYONE?)
Im sooooooooo disappointed with Forza 4, I wanted to love it and I preyed it would be fresh, exciting and feel reinvigorated. None of which happened. Such a shame.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.2Sep 24, 2011If like me you love true to life driving/racing sims, then this could quite easily be the very one for you. F1 2010 was a briiliant foundation for F1 2011 to build on and Codemasters have done exactly that.
The obvious changes and extras being, updated driver rosters, driver stats, car sponsership and livery changes, circut additions and changes to the 2011 calender. Also an online CO'OP in which you and a friend or indeed stranger take part in the 2011 season competing in the same team against AI drivers. Larger online servers with more players taking part in races ( sprint modes, custom modes etc), which unfortunately means more idiots in which to avoid who could potentially ruin your race. Also included are the usual time trial modes + online leaderboards. Time attack scenarios + online leaderboards which pit you in a specific car on a specific track in pre-determined weather without the luxuary of being able to adjust your setups, so basically make do with what your given. (which is more fun and harder than it sounds).
But the gem personally for me is how accurately reproduced the car, track, weather and tyre physics are, plus the addition to the cars this year of KERS (Kinetic energy recovery system) energy lost throught braking is harvested to a battery and stored to be used as a quick boost of speed to the engine and DRS (Drag reduction system) the rear wing on each car can be opened in certain cirumstances to reduce drag and downforce to the car, hence increasing the acceleration, speed and overtaking chances. The car setup adjustments that can be made are near endless and will play a major outcome on how the car handling physics change reletive to each individual track and weather. Tyre and track evolution is frighteningly realistic and can and WILL change over the course of the race weekend let alone lap by lap, whoever thinks that tyres are just round lumps of rubber, needs a checkup from the neck up. Random mechanical failures are also a major fear factor, blowing engines, losing KERS, punctures etc.
In short a vast improvement in every aspect to 2010. 2011 is potentially the greatest racing game ever. Indeed not everyones cup of tea. But if your looking for a driving game that leaves you wanting and thinking after you walk away about how you can change this, try that, etc.... then this may the one for you. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!

Average User Score: 6.9Sep 12, 2011Hmmmmm where to start? The idea of the game is fantastic, and had so much potential! The FINAL PRODUCT WAS NOTHING SHORT OF A SHAMBLES, the story is that of one that has no depth, the missions and soooooooo repetitive. "Run around help someone out, turn this on, get this from here bring it back there". I'm sick of unknown game studios having someone make a trailor for a game just to promote a product the apart from name has nothing much in common with the end result. The game is so rough around the edges and so slow to progress techincally from something like Far Cry 2. The game leaves you feeling cheated and out of pocket, wish I had never taken Deus Ex for part trade in. If like me you are an old skool gamer who can tell the difference between good and bad you will save your cash and avoid this like the plague. What a wasteof total time, effort and cash. PURE GARBAGE!… Expand
Average User Score: 7.0Jun 3, 2011DIRT. Well the title says it all, because thats all it amounts to.
Graphically it looks the business. Thats really about it. Codies have take a once great franchise and put a dodgy American twist and it shows through here, non more than with the gymkhana.....what alot of nonsense. Wheres the mud and dirt in that? Gone are the days of the pure throughabread rally driving and here are the days of "Ken c*ck Block. Ken Block failed in his attempt in the WRC as does Dirt. This is more like Tony Hawk meets Shaun White in a Max Power Fiesta. PANTS!! If you like that sorta thing. £40.00 wasted..... next!!!!… Expand
