This version of the joker is the worst and that's including ALL the jokers, from comics to cartoons to movies, ever. He actually does a Phyllis Diller laugh (a female comedian from the 50's). If you don't believe me, check her out on YouTube.
I think this is one of the most black-washed, violently racist movie I have seen in a while. The absolute worst, and the performance that made me lose all respect for him, came from Will Smith. I love the guy and have most of his films. When he took a gun and pointed it at a white cops head, in this time of real life death, where blacks are killing whites because of the color of their skins, for him to do this is unforgivable. He is a role model. Does he agree with the killing and violence? I guess so. Remember, this is a movie. That cop could have easily been black, but no. Instead you get the angry black man pointing a gun a a policeman's head. How anyone can be so stupid is confusing. How can anyone with a slogan that includes "lives matter" justify murdering? How can a race that complains of being treated bad because of the color of their skin treat others bad because of the color of their skin? I think the cumulative average IQ of the murderers and looters must be in the low 60's or so. How does looting stores and burning down businesses help their cause? This nation is crazy and the BLACKS HAVE DESTROYED EVERYTHING THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT HAS ACCOMPLISHED SINCE 1960 with "our" president encouraging them. Wow, what a crazy time to live in.
In all this is a stupid move that shouldn't have even been made and I truly feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to watch/enjoy it.… Expand

You really can't tell whats going to happen next, something highly unusual in 80% the formulaic kids movies and cartoons they show today.
I love this movie and intend to purchase it when it comes out. I watched the original 60's version when I was a kid and it was a great tribute.… Expand
Average User Score: 7.8May 23, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I saw it today, and at the risk of my soul, and Trekie status, I have to say...I liked it. One big reason is because I was very wrong about something major. I will spill it, below, because it made a huge difference to me, but it is a spoiler too. You are warned!
I was horrified when I heard the villian was Khan. ST2 is the best movie in the series and I was horrified at the thought of trying to re-do it. Well, this is NOT a remake of ST2, its a remake of the original Space Seed! It keeps intact the conflict between Khan and Kirk who, for a bit different reasons, and has preserved the Khan/Kirk re-match in ST2.
Some people think all the "in-jokes" as silly, but I thought they were a tilt of the head from JJ to the Trekies. They didn't have to be in there, after all.… Expand
Average User Score: 6.5May 4, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a enjoyable movie to watch if you just go with it. It has a little extra humor than I am used to and a kid that pals around with Tony at one point, but its OK. The Mandarin bait and switch wasn't as bad as I thought when the twist was first revealed. Having the goofy "actor" Mandarin was a poke at the purists with Guy Pierce revealed as the "real" Mandarin. I think people are stuck on this point because Kingsly first appears to be the comic book version of the Mandarin and then isn't. Its a bit of a reboot making Guy Pierce the new version of the Mandarin. The movie is a solid 7 and I wouldn't mind watching it again. You can tell it had a troubled development period and was probably meant to be released around Christmas originally but the actors are good and they stumble through it in a decent manner.… Expand

Don't think it has the class of the Morgan Freeman movies. Don't watch it. I rented it on Amazon and it was one of a handful of films that made me regret renting it within 5 minutes. Average User Score: 8.6Jan 11, 2013Uh oh...a film about blacks and slavery, better give it a good review! This movie is stupid. I also imagine some people will think it is trueUh oh...a film about blacks and slavery, better give it a good review! This movie is stupid. I also imagine some people will think it is true history. Why is that bad (beyond the obvious)? Because at it's heart it is a revenge movie where blacks kill whites, then cheer about it. I think there is quite enough tension without a movie like this promoting racial violence. It is a time when people should work together, as we have in the past, to promote racial equality, not violence. No one living today was ever a slave, and most of the people alive today had nothing to do with slavery. It was horrible and wrong, but we DID get rid of it. Some countries (Africa for one) STILL HAVE slavery today.… Expand
Average User Score: 8.2Aug 4, 2012This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is about 50 minutes too long. My mind drifted during the long, cliche exposition. But the real fatal flaw is that Nolan takes all the magic out of Batman. Gone is the atmospheric Gotham, replaced by a shiny, normal, everyday modern city. Did you like the Bane story from the comics? It doesn't exist. Bane is a average terrorist. Gone is the Venom (NO VENOM?!?). The break out of all of Batman's former nemesis from Arkham Asylum doesn't happen. He just releases some regular prison inmates. The Bane story is one of my favorite stories in the Batman universe. I was totally disappointed with this film after imagining how cool it would be when Arkham fell and Bane pumped up with venom. Nolan shouldn't use the Batman name if he is going to ignore what Batman is all about.
If you compare this film to the Avengers, a great superhero movie from this summer, that stayed true to the comics and had great dialog and special effects, you can imagine how cool Batman could have been, and just how far Nolan took Batman down.
I just pray he doesn't destroy all the fun and "hero" aspect of Superman, but I am very worried.… Expand
