What does all this make? A game that SHOULD have a 10 out of 10.
But it's getting a 2 out of 10... because it requires you to be online to play it. Blizzard was quoted as saying everyone is always online. Well I wasn't over the weekend for several hours & guess who's not online right now? Blizzard.
And so the game has become completely unplayable; barely obtaining a 2 out of 10. I paid $100 based on the public "beta" (which was actually an unfinished demo a.k.a. starter edition as it's now revealed to be) to purchase this game & to continue playing a great series. Even to this day I am still working on my Diablo 2 paladin attempting to get the "Doom runeword" in single player having never played in multi-player.
Diablo 3's life time is sadly limited... probably to 1 year at which time Blizzard is likely to kill the servers to save money.
But I'm not working on my Diablo 3 characters... because I can't play as Blizzard isn't online.
Blizzard thinks they're secure in the fact that I've already bought the game... what they don't realize is, unlike the states, where I live I may still return the product even opened & registered.
So here's $100 to say I think this can be a great game.... but if it's not playable SOON it'll be $100 saying "scre* off with your anti-consumerism Blizzard"… Expand

-EAI've already scored this low on the gaming store's site I bought it from & will actually give point form why it gets low scores here.
-EA conducting aggressive anti-consumer behaviour against users who display "discontent behaviour" in any official forum. Lowers enjoyment of playing game.
-Significant day 1 DLC/add-on items that should be part of the game but EA is requiring cash for. (i.e. the Razer branded item's bonus guns)
-"Professional" reviewers seem to have been paid off for positive reviews
-Graphics toted as being "top notch". It's Unreal Engine... I haven't played a game using this engine that HASN'T looked good. ME3 is just average when placed beside many of its competitors
-Over aggressive DRM (yes it effects the game score as it affects how often & where I can play the game)
-Game is not a 10 out of 10 by a long shot so it should consider itself lucky to be getting the 2 I'm giving given the negatives.
Disclosure: I have only played the demo; am still working on my Mass Effect 1 play through before proceeding to ME2 then ME3. Own most the content for all 3 (lacking Razor rifle for ME3 at this point)
Example of Unreal Engine 3 games I've played for comparison: Alpha Protocol, Batman: Arkham City, Blacklight: Tango Down, BlackSite: Area 51, Borderlands, Frontlines: Fuel of War, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. (Probably more too)… Expand

I bought it on pre-order a month before release & for the most part I got exactly what I expected.
Decent graphics, standard fps "futuristic" weapons, pig cops, & nudity.
The worst part of the game is that the levels are rather confined with little give in how you approach a target or the end of the level. Other then this it follows the fps formula well & tries to be decent.
It's a much better game then several of the other recent fps games released. The humor, the bad humor & even if lacking in it the advanced game mechanics do make this enjoyable.
Story is predictable but it does it in a way consistent with the game history & knows it's being predictable. That's alright.
The nudity is actually a welcome addition as it's well rendered & it's nice to see a developer not chickening out in fears the censors might frown a little. Most people scream about it & say it's not appropriate. That's wrong... in battlefield 3 it would be in appropriate. In this game it fits... that is it actually makes sense based on the "aliens trying to take over the planet & adapt". True... a race so advanced would have better ways to steal our dna but I'd rather see the nudity vs a poor science montage.
I'd rather play this then that waste of hdd space Homefront which I also just reviewed. Guess which one got uninstalled to make way for older games? Hint: Not Duke Nukem Forever.… Expand

Story - The story is so bad it makes my me want to go play a casual game like peggle for the simple pleasure of having NO story. Using a very linear story with no surprises this also pushes how "great" americans are. Very tiresome.
I bought this game based on magazine reviews that seemed quit glowing. It's sad to see how far "professional" critics have fallen on the standards of goods out now days. Not only was my pre-order of the game a large waste of money but I think Chaos Studios deserved to be liquidated for their failure on producing something this bad. If it was a lawn mower it would have had a sized engine in the 1st hour... AFTER throwing part of the blade at your dog.
Skip it... go play Duke Nukem Forever instead. Yes it's about the same but at least you go in expecting it & there's humor, bad humor, some advanced mechanics (unlike Homefront) & nudity.… Expand

The "single player" is really just a form of multiplayer & with the REQUIRED internet connection even for that is not even worth mentioning... a true shame since the single player is what I thought would be the games saving grace. Bought on a day when I was sick I hoped to have a fun single player game to keep me busy; instead I found a game I couldn't play unless I was logged in & it was a week before I could play it.
Over all this game is a 2 out of 10 & barely deserves that; save your money... buy something else... anything else. Even Alpha Prime is better.… Expand
