TheThe worst AI to grace a video game in at least the past decade ruins what would otherwise be a fantastic story with memorable characters. The greatest challenge you'll face in this game involves getting your AI team-mates to co-operate and act according to the vague tactics you select for them. Boss battles come down to winning or losing based on your ability to outrun your own companions and get a golden orb before they can waste it.
The only thing worse than a genuinely bad game, is what could easily have been an incredible game ruined by one core aspect of the gameplay.… Expand

The only good thing to come of playing this game was it reminded me to go back and replay Banjoe Kazooie. Now THAT was a good adventure game.
Also, the hardest enemy in this game was the Camera. I've never in my life played a game where the camera was so utterly bad it took away from the game.… Expand

This game started with so much promise,I was honestly happy when I came on here to write up a review and saw a measly 5.9 as the user score. This game started with so much promise, for the first few hours it looked like it was going to be great, then it dropped, and it dropped hard.
This is the first game in years that I have uninstalled without completing just because I couldn't bring myself to play it anymore. The combat is awful, I played a warrior with a hammer weapon to about the point when I filled the blacksmithing skill (which turned out worthless since materials for crafting are random drop apart from the extremely few and far between shops that sell only the most basic materials). The combat is ripped right out of God of War, literally, it's the exact same, right down to random meaningless sheep enemies being able to stagger and interrupt the attacks of my character, who wields a weapon larger than the enemies themselves. The combat difficulty is one of two things, way too easy, or close to impossible (enemies with unblockable, undodgable homing spells that will follow you endlessly and kill you in 1-2 hits, even if the enemy dies as they are following you).
The environments look nice, but you can't really explore them at all, there are tons of invisible walls and most dungeons are "magically locked" unless you're on a certain quest. The story is, well, I literally just stopped playing an uninstalled it less than five minutes ago and I can barely remember the point of the story. It was boring and unimaginative, and did not drag me in at all.
I've never gone from being amazed and happy about my purchase, and looking forward to a FUN game to being completely and utterly disappointed in such a short time before. I could go on and on but it isn't worth it, I couldn't care less about the future of this game at all. It has been so long since I played a game that was so boring I considered it a chore to even try to finish it I forgot what it was like.… Expand

I can picture a game in this universe being done well, but this one isn't. This developer, Cyanide Studios, are the ones also responsible for taking the incredible George RR Martin Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones universe and making a poorly done strategy game out of it (Genesis), a game that is a disgrace to both the author of the books and the HBO series.
Short story: Avoid this awful joke of a game, as well as any current and future Cyanide Studios games.… Expand

This is a game that gives stats based on what you do in battle. If you use lots of magic, you'll gain intellect, that sort of thing. The game also scales to how many battles you've done, meaning if you don't grind out PERFECTLY, you're going to be screwed late game.
Now, this would be an incredible gameplay feature, in fact that on paper sounds perfect for making a game not a grindfest, and actually requiring thinking. However, now throw this into the mix: You can't control what your characters do in combat.
There, the entire gameplay mechanic I explained that the game uses has just been shattered and turned into a complete mess. You control multiple parties instead of just one, and can only direct the party to attack, combat arts, or magic arts. However, using one of those options doesn't guarantee your soldiers will use said arts. Most of them will just use normal attacks, sometimes they'll use combat arts when you choose magic, etc. They've basically scaled the difficulty so the grinding and stat gains you get NEED to be absolutely perfect, if you accidentally use a magic spell or two on a warrior type, you've just made that character worthless as the game progresses. Combined with the fact that you don't control your characters the game feels more like watching a movie based on a bunch of drunk idiots fighting against gods and losing over and over and over.
This is the first game I've ever played from Square Enix that I have not been able to finish just because of how flat out terrible it was. It pisses me off because the game was mere inches away from being one of the best RPG's of it's time, and all they had to do was give you control over your own characters, something that has been the norm in gaming since...pong.… Expand

There are copy/pasted caves all over the place and that is a flaw, but that is the one and only flaw in the entire game.
